It's going to be a long and ugly summer. Minneapolis will probably follow in Detroit's footsteps.

Agree. Resisting arrest isn't a death sentence.

Sure looked like it in this video

Maybe not, but it certainly increases the odds, so why do it?

Did the guy really think he would get away?

Someone with a warrant for a weapons charge who is actively resisting and reaching in a vehicle is a clean shoot IMO.

Shouting taser repeatedly while doing it kinda fricks up that defense.

Exactly. Not meaning to shoot, and indicating so on camera, when you were justified in shooting in the first place is going to mess her up lol.

Dude was fighting and you have no idea what he could have in the vehicle.

He had a warrant for unlawful possession of firearm.

What's the problem.

If the police had simply stuck with a story of this being a justifiable shoot, there wouldn't be a problem.

But now the chief has basically said she was negligent. The chief termed it "accidental", but consensus here seems to think she was negligent, incompetent, whatever. Now that brings into play a huge civil suit and perhaps even a negligent homicide charge against the officer.

Saying she intended to taze him and grabbed her weapon by mistake is a no-win defense, both civilly and criminally. They would have been far better off defending it as a reasonable use of force.

A poorly trained and panicked female officer pulled weapon instead of tazer.

A dude got shot in the head (I believe in Frisco or that area) some years back because the cop drew the pistol and not the taser. (ETA: I was right about it being in the Bay Area, but the suspect was shot in the back.)

She's going to jail. Period.

No doubt, it was a dumb move.

And the pic of the 20 year old is the only one they could find that shows him looking normal. The rest he's got money all around him, hold guns, etc. SMH

Who tazes someone in the head?

I’d wager he’d still be alive if he would’ve complied with the law. You?

Sure, but that shouldn’t be the measure of whether a person is shot.

If your daughter is walking on the beach in a red bikini, and a LEO whose looking for a different girl in a red bikini walks up to her and screams “face down, hands behind your back”, I don’t think the LEO is in position to shoot her center mass is she doesn’t lie face down

This is why we need to invest in better policing and training...paying more to hire and retain quality officers....not defund the police like these idiots are suggesting.

If we use the left's justification for killing Ashli Babbitt, then this shooting was perfectly justified. I am sure all of our resident libs that defended and even applauded her killing will be here shortly to applaud this one as well.

Personally, it is hard to see a defense for lethal force in that situation whether intentional or not. The guy fought but did not seem to present a lethal threat to any of the cops in that situation. I know she meant to taser him but that is still some type of negligent homicide I would think.

I just don't understand resisting in this situation. What did the guy think was going to happen if he got away, the cops would just say oh well, and go about their business?

What if she then runs away to her tent on the beach and is reaching into her bag?

Correct. I'm still making a point of telling my kids to do what they say anyway. If you're not, you're failing as a parent.

Looks like human error, like the cop in Dallas who thought she was in her own apartment.
