Do you think that the best person always gets the job?

Indeed. Having lived for two years in rural Japan I can attest to this. " Diversity" works splendidly if everybody involved is actively invested in the concept. But let's say you are a Jew who moves into a Muslim neighborhood or a white guy who moved to Compton- not so much.

Personally I strongly prefer "diversity ". But I recognize the inherent challenges.

I have a Union job buddy. The top 3 lazy people in the entire company are an old black man, an old white woman, and a fatass lesbian chick.. none of whom will ever get fired no matter how long they continue to underperform. its by far the easiest job ive ever had. i can complete the companies issued " 8 hours" of work in about 3, and all these fricks do is sit around and complain about how bad they have it and take smoke breaks 4 times an hour.

It's a government job, the company makes money off os us for every man hour we put in so they couldn't care less how long it takes. The supervisors coddle them and tell them they'll get them help to complete their work, while i do 2-3 times what they do for no extra pay, for no reason other than i cant stand sitting around doing nothing.

ETA:: I am 1 of maybe 3 or 4 who has any verifiable previous experience. the rest were obvious diversity hires. As a disabled veteran I probably was too and they got lucky finding one who knows what they're doing.

#diversity

The Japanese are a great example. Their system works great for them, but it wouldn't work at all if you added large numbers of foreign peoples.

I think our primary push should be for mutual tolerance and finding ways to live with our neighbors. It's not celebrating about what makes us different, but what we have in common.

Precisely. Our common humanity, not our competing grievances. Unfortunately you will never get the Progressive tribalists like Strong Safety on board because they are defined by their Progressive racial resentments.

you can't force tolerance of different cultures.

I used the expression mutual tolerance purposefully. We have to find ways to live alongside each other, and that goes both ways.

Every single job application now requires me to identify my race and gender.

Of course not one call back from 8 positions that I'm well qualified for.

Is it coincidence that I'm a white male?
I will never lower myself to playing victim but it really makes me wonder.

The company I work for just created a VP level Diversity Director job and they shove the bullshite down our throats. Network for everything imaginable except white males.

Exactly. And if you bring it up that not everyone is represented, all hell breaks loose. Diversity of thought is the exact opposite of what happens here. Diversity quotas are forced by weak liberal minds

you can strongly incentivize it however. You can educate people to believe that tolerance is a worthy goal.

In the aforementioned study where groups didn't trust each other, maybe it had more to do with people who weren't trusting?

To what end? Do you really think that all cultures have something to contribute?

If I decline then won't it be obvious?
I know I have the option but what's the point of lying or hiding it?

Diversity for the sake of diversity is bullshite.

Picking the best from the biggest pool is optimal.

Picking a few from several smaller pools is not.

I have never given a shite about how "diverse" someone is - I care about whether they can give me what I need to do my job. I actually once sat in a room of about 50 people representing at least a dozen countries and got preached to about how "we need to be more diverse" by a white guy. Everybody knows what "diversity" really means - hire more less competent black people.
