It says they would convert the energy to microwaves and shoot it to a receiver station. Not sure the technology is even close to existing to do something like that.
Tesla did harmonic coupling, wireless power transmission in the early 1900's.
This was a separate demonstration than the Colorado Springs and the Wardenclyffe experiments.

There is a distinct difference form single-wire power transmission (or using the Earth as the coupler) and wireless harmonic coupling.
However, all 3 were terrestrial experiments.
So, what role did the ionosphere or Earth's geo-magnetic structure play in the effectiveness of this old technology? It's hard to know.
Similar to the near field wireless charging pads we all use. You could scale the technology to increase the distance between the source and receiver.

Much like a powered radio station transmitting information and sound waves that can be received by a powered radio in your car when tuned to the right frequency.
You could maybe do power transmission with alternate waves (microwaves versus sound waves) from space if the frequency is coupled.
Microwave frequencies would theoretically lose less energy than radio frequencies.

As for the underlying basis, it's a very interesting idea.
Super cold operation. No debris. Near 100% availability.

I wonder how they would solve the potential issue of unauthorized power draws if someone was able to construct an independent power receiver and tune it to the right frequency.

Translation:

China put a bunch of solar panels on balloons that they say will be for energy, but is actually a spy/weapons platform.

Shouldn't they be finishing off their quantum radar that makes stealth useless before they do this one?

I would hate to be the one that had to coil up a tangled, 50 mile long, orange extension cord.

I support this, go China, very smart move. They should become completely reliant on this type of infrastructure.

Then when we have our eventual war, we can blow them out of space and cripple their already stagnant nation

yeah here's the thing milt, we're centuries away from that technology if it's even feasible and the twitter link you posted is for a 26 social influencer who's known for posting conspiracy theory's next time do better!

thank you for your attention to this matter.

I've been told on here many times that Chyner, Russia and India is broke.

How can this be done?

How does the power get transmitted? This sounds sci fi.

Hmm after reading into it. It looks like the same tech Tesla was trying to use in Colorado.

It wasn’t shut down, the gov just took it over. They’ve been refining it further, and very well may be developing it as a weapon as well.

If we think something can be used as a weapon, we never stop researching it because someone else discovering it and making it a weapon is too great of a risk. Its same reason everyone is racing on AI and not stopping to ask if they SHOULD, or how to do it responsibly.

That's going to be a really long wire needed to get that power down to earth.

Then one of their ship captains would just drag an anchor chain over it.

Poster probably also believes a mirror based solar farm in the desert is the answer to all our energy needs.

Maintenance on that thing will be an absolute never ending nightmare. Space particulates travel at tens of thousands of miles per hour, and you're talking about an absolutely huge surface area for potential impacts. Plus, without the ionosphere's protection nearer to sea level, it will be far more susceptible to solar radiation overloads. The sun is basically sending out massive EMPs on the regular, and it takes incredible engineering and maintenance to prevent it from affecting orbital equipment. It can certainly be done, but they'll have their hands full.

If it's China claiming this, it's absolutely absurd. If it's just the author of the tweet, it's just as absurd.

The math doesn't add up and this is demonstrably false.

I’m looking forward to the poorly generated AI videos of this project completed, just like all the other supposed Chinese infrastructure accomplishments.

You know the guy that changes the light bulb on the cell tower for $20k? He's going to climb a taller tower and swap out batteries when they are charged up.

I am beginning to believe that mankind at the highest levels are wanting to start our true outward reaching ambitions. Colonizing the moon seems like an obvious first step.
Yeah, frick the birds that get in the path of those microwaves.

btw - to achieve geostationary position, it would require that 1 km station to sit at 22,236 miles above the equator. At that distance, a microwave beam as small as 0.1 degree divergence, would have a width on Earth of appropriately 39 miles.

That couldn't be a space weapon at all! Nope. No way. China wouldn't do that. I mean, a hugely powerful beam of microwave radiation over, say, the entirety of Washington DC, and all the surrounding government and defense contractor headquarters in the area? Nah. They wouldn't do that, right?

Right?
