Can we talk about how a "completely decimated" Iran shot down an F-15?
sure. Iran is completely decimated.
Iran shot down one F-15 in 35 days of combat.
Thanks God the pilot(s) are safe.
thanks for the talk

Yea because people who the only time they have ever seen an F15E is on television or at an airshow love to get on here on a regular basis and act like they have intelligent conversation talking shite to people who have been there everyday for 20 plus years. It blows my mind the amount of shite people talk in general about things they have zero knowledge or experience of. Like the comment about contested airspace.

I’m starting to wonder if anyone knows what decimated means.

Most people on here have no idea what they are talking about.
I know your background and I’m telling you that you also have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the WSOs and qualifications.

It means in their USAF records they went to flight school and in their active records they are qualified to take off, fly the aircraft and land the aircraft.
This is hugely inaccurate. The military does not spend neither the time nor the money to keep backseaters qualified. A huge part of “qualified” is currency which requires 100 to and much as 300 flight hours per year.
Now, they may have received some form of flight training but it was not on their fleet aircraft. It would have been on some little single engine prop plane. Training on a modern fighter requires months and months to gain proficiency(qualified).

Couple of things, the TRAP team will likely have complete air supremacy in the area. Depending on how the Strike Eagle was hit there is a chance one of the crew members could have been killed before or during ejection.
I am highly suspicious of the reports out that one of the air crew has been rescued - very bad opsec for that to have been released with one still missing. I know in one Tomcat ejection the pilot and rio landed about 4 miles apart - which really complicates things.
Praying for the air crew and TRAP team.
personally I am leaning to mechanical failure after the repeated pummeling of Iran's defenses and the fact they haven't hit any other birds in the air - I am skeptical they splashed one.

USAF pilots go to tech school on trainers. Then depending how they do once they are assigned an aircraft they will then start out on a trainer aircraft. For fighters it is the T-38 which is not a prop. It is an actual jet. They are being replaced by the T-7A. Then once they finish that school they will go to a trainer base where they will train on their actual airframe. For F15E that would be Seymour Johnson North Carolina.

If not rescued yet, hopefully the pilots have some sort of communication and or GPS on them.

Yup, pilots. My cousin went to the Academy and flew in Afghanistan and Iraq. I hung out with him and his buddies in Del Rio.

I’ll go on record as being the only dude on this board that have seen a us jet shoot down another jet.

I know they often rotate out and become TACP OICs

My military speed was basically a crawl. That's way too high speed for me
