So the posts asking "how soon till MAGAs start calling Johnson a rino" aren't predicting his failure?

I think everyone is just aware that compromise is likely. Either Johnson shuts down the government for months or he'll pass another CR that gives Ukraine billions among other swampy bullshite.

Then what happens? Either MAGA has to own this new guy or start calling him out for caving. It just seems fairly predictable.

You'd have to ask whoever posted this, but predicting failure is a far cry from praying for it.

Cautious optimism. Not sure why everyone is set on him caving on the CR. He even stated today he wouldn’t do it.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t lying of course but at least he’s on record on it.

Optimism is good.

I'm not set on him caving, I just don't see the alternative beyond shutting down the government for months and months. I'm not sure he or any Republican is strong enough to do that.

And him being on record as opposing CRs just makes it more likely Democrats will work overtime to get him to agree to one.

H.W. Bush ran on "Read my lips, no new taxes" in '88. Democrats immediately after the election worked to get him to sign a tax increase. He compromised and paid dearly for it.

I don't think Mike Johnson is lying but I think he'll compromise. Maybe I'm not as optimistic as I should be.

This is how it should always be no matter who the Speaker is. If things aren’t going the way we want it is our job to make them uncomfortable enough to change.

Enjoy today, ladies and gents. Tomorrow is when the work begins.
