But he's gotta be better than Francis
Francis was unwaveringly pro life and referred to abortionists as hitmen. Also wanted to get frociaggine out of the seminaries and condemned the idea of anyone being a throwaway.
His biggest flaw was causing confusion. We need someone to take a clear stand against relativism.

As a Protestant -> Catholic convert it’s disappointing that our pastor may espouse liberal and, in my view, anti-Christian ideas. But my faith is in God and the Church Christ established. The gates of hell will not prevail against it.

Too early to tell really. Sometimes Cardinals are just obedient so we’ll see where he stands when he can speak for himself.
Unlike Francis, at least he seems to be Catholic so that’s a good start. If he sticks with his Aquinus education and his namesake he will at least be consistent. That will be a nice change.
People complaining about his stance on immigration need to just get over it. You’re never going to have a pope that’s anti-immigrant. Hopefully he just stays out of the politics of it all.

It’s a win if he drives re-engagement with the Catholic Church in the United States.
I guess but the people that will be re-engagong are a bunch of tone policing Karens.

Correct. He represents people worldwide, not just American Catholics.
It's not like he is going to come out and crap on them.

I want major reform/cleanup, but I know I won’t get it in my lifetime.

What does it matter? Having pedos in the church doesnt phase them. Turning pro gay doesnt phase them. Being full blown globalists doesnt phase them. American catholics stil donate 70+billion a year.
Dude could mouth to arse a mooselimb on live tv and say its the way to go and theyll still go give the church money on sunday.

So he'll gladly open the gates to the vatican and welcome them in, give them bread and dried fish to eat.

It's a draw and honestly doesn't matter anymore.

Disappointed we didn’t get Sarah. Someone really needs to read the German bishops the riot act. I don’t see Leo as that guy.
I expect a lengthy, unremarkable papacy, which could be a good thing. Perhaps filled with a lot of leftist cheerleading, but at the end of the day, nothing really noteworthy. Francis 2.0.

Not being a Jesuit is a win in my book.
I'm still trying to learn more about him.

Relative to the church and immigration, it is hypocritical for the pope to insist on strict adherence to Church doctrine while simultaneously encouraging leniency or civil disobedience in secular contexts such as the rules and laws of a sovereign nation.

Popes doesn’t need to lean left or right. He only needs to lean on God and his word.

Even to slight win, but I’d have to see.

When he replied to Vance's tweet he chose to get INTO the politics of it. So much for being non-political.

We’re largely unaffected by the pope. I’m shocked the holy father is American. Still processing.

Anyone judging now is just tossing darts blind.
Let's give the guy a chance.

He might not be great but he’s right of Francis and he’s not a Jesuit. So he’s going to be promoting more conservatively than Francis did for bishops/cardinals/etc… which will ultimately be a net positive for when his successor is picked.

It will be interesting to discover that the new Pope is black. Saw WDSU and it seems his family moved to Chicago and changed their race to white. His family was a 7th ward Creole clan. It was a common practice among Creoles to pass for social and economic opportunities

No. But don't expect him to tell poor people around the world that they are bad people for wanting to seek something better.
