So you're saying we need to grab our cheeks and kiss our asses goodbye? Ok, thanks. Good talk.

this event, the earth's mantle and core decouple. Our dense core will freely wobble until it finds its new lock, for the next few centuries. The mantle shifts OVER it, and finds its new position.

Whew...good thing the scientists are metric.

We'll never see any movement by feet, so we're safe.

This is complete BS. The Earth isn't about to start spinning about its equator.

Forget all of the geopolitical issues we face. All of it is of tertiary concern to what is happening on our planetary geoid.

Does anyone have a animated video of this? It would be helpful.

Isn't this also the approximate time of the Mayans cycles?

Interesting stuff.

Happens every 12,000 years and we just were able to accurately map this over the past 50 years.

What are the odds?!

I wasn't planning on surviving a magnanimous polar shift any time soon. But I did always want to move to a new environment.

This is good news because the South Pole we have now sucks. It's like super cold and shite.

I used feet instead of meters because I didn't want to confuse some of our more easily confused readers.

What happens if the equator shifts 90 degrees but pivots and still runs through capital city of Quito in Ecuador?

Yall do know that if the Earth spins in a different direction than you don’t have relativity equal parts of light and dark over the planet. Some parts would get 24 hours of sun and some 24 hours of dark all year long.

It’s more than just the equator being in a different spot. Well unless it flipped a perfect 180. But then there is the transition period to deal with.

For a few days it would be beachfront property in Telluride. Property rights kinda stop there.

I am only now beginning to learn the CME stuff on a mildly deep level.

So you admit this.... then propose this as a potential doomsday scenario? Bruh.

Do you understand how angular momentum works? The amount of energy required to change the earth's orientation relative to the sun is almost inconceivable and would probably tear the earth apart.
