should my tax money be used to fuel someone else's poor life choices? If they need help to survive, how does coke help them survive more than water?

Remember when you were a kid and your mom told you not to eat junk food before dinner?

What's the difference. If the government is paying for your food at the taxpayer’s expense, they should tell you what to eat.

You really think there are people out there that don't know eating shitty food and not exercising is unhealthy?

You'd be surprised how many people are exactly that way. A significant amount of people believe:
1) Fat is beautiful and since it is beautiful it must be healthy, too
2) if the government allows it, it can't be bad for me. It is the governments responsibility to look out for my well being.

First off, yes it will help. If they can afford to chug soda maybe they shouldn't even have SNAP.

Second, they should get a sack of rice and a sack of beans. That is fricking it. It isn't the taxpayers job to make poor fricks refusing to work happy. No fricking way.

Liberals have created a permanent welfare class who don't give a shite about improving their life because they have a phone, internet, home and food.

All welfare should be discontinued and given the minimum wage workers working at least 80 hours a week.

The only reason this is the case is we quit fat shaming folks and society was told they couldn't help being fat... Sorry but I still look at fat folks and my first thought is "lazy"...

It's really misguided to think limiting the types of food you can purchase with SNAP is somehow going to curb the health crisis in America. That's a cultural issue and a large majority of the population that just either has no clue about nutrition, staying active, and enjoying in moderation. or they simply just dont care.

So if you dont make enough money to cover food expenses, get fricked you eat what the government tells you to eat. However if you make enough money to cover food expenses then by all means eat whatever the frick you want. Such a bizarre mentality.

As if someone's food choices are somehow a direct correlation to the money they make.
You are all over the place here. We are a country drowning in debt, subsidizing high cost food that leads to high cost healthcare is a drain we should not have.

Here, have koolaid by the gallon to wash down your Ding Dongs, here have let us buy you a glucometer to manage your sugar, here is a pill, oh shite, here is a continuous monitoring device you can use with your smart phone, oh shite, here is some insulin. Here is medication to manage your neuropathy, damn, here is your wound care nurse for your ulcers on your legs, dialysis for your kidneys, surgeon for your amputation, weeks in rehab hospital, a prosthesis that will never fit correctly because you dont do stump care, therapy for months, transport to therapy appointments.....and on and on and on.....

You may screw yourself, I dont know, but I am fine handing you a vegetable every now ant then.

Oliver Anthony says it best in his song, "Rich Men North of Richmond ".

quote:

Lord, we got folks in the street ain't got nothin' to eat
And the obese milkin' welfare
But God, if you're five foot three and you're three hundred pounds
Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds
Young men are putting themselves six feet in the ground
'Cause all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down

Went to Albersons yesterday. The black female population there was probably an average of 300 plus pounds, a few riding in scooters already in spite of being younger than me. It was mind boggling. On that note, do all the regular folks have grocery delivery nowadays. I know we use it for a large percentage of our grocery buying, rarely going to store, but I used to see people I knew in the store. Nowadays I dont see anyone I know at all.

Replace SNAP with Medicaid. Should Medicaid cover implants, bbl, liposuction or any number of cosmetic surgeries? No. It should cover only basic, necessary procedures. Same with SNAP. If you can afford it, you shouldn’t be on the program.

The idea is to cover only necessities and start getting people off SNAP

Exactly.

The premise is to provide temporary help for those who need it, so they don't starve. The necessities are all that is needed to accomplish that goal. Chips and soda are not those necessities. It's not supposed to be a "lifestyle". In fact, it's tacitly supposed to be a stigma that pushes one to try to get off of the program. Of course, politicians have made it a lifestyle.

Yeah, but the left is always trying to engineer our culture.

If we can get more people, especially kids, drinking water rather than sugary soda pop, that's a win in itself.

I'm all for freedom man. But only if it's on your dime or someone else's direct dime (as long as they make that decision) but the government at large? I mean don't be surprised if all of a sudden they say you gotta buy rice and beans with that until you get a job.

I would support this no matter which party put it in place (but you know today's Democrat wouldn't do it ever since Obama got in -- hell, he gave everybody phones).

The only exception I would make is for those who are severely handicapped or disabled and absolutely cannot get back to work.

"Poor people" are fatter than me, meaning they take in more calories than I do. If "poor people" on food stamps have more money than I do, meaning they take in more money than I do, I would equally have an issue with it.

you seem to be veering off topic of what my post was about. My post was about how there are actually people out there that stupid and why they think the way the day. It wasn't about what you think, how you should think or anything to do with your thought process.
