Mississippi. You can actually be a state trooper with a GED.

Edit: From MS DPS website on qualifications to be a trooper

quote:

Basic Requirements to be a Mississippi State Trooper Must be 23 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED Must be 21 years of age and 60 college credit hours; or high school diploma or GED and 4 years of active duty military/6 years of service in the National Guard; or high school diploma and 1 year as a certified sworn law enforcement officer Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Mississippi Must have a valid driver’s license

I agree with the premise, but I don't think they will "do it happily". There are a lot of them that blindly and mindlessly follow orders.

Why do you hang out with low IQ people that never out grew their HS bully stage?

Also, I bet 90% of them will look you in the eye and say “frick your rights” when the dems come after guns because cops can’t think for themselves.

There is a big difference between arresting a women at the park with her kid and going house to house to disarm the public.

Human nature will tell you do the less risky. The police are frequently shot going to a house to issue a warrant or investigate domestic violence. It will be much worse when trying to confiscate guns. They will likely make it to the front door.

A lot of people don’t want to hear this but when it comes down to it Cops couldn’t give a frick about you. At the end of the day it’s you vs them.

They’ll gladly trample over your rights to get a promotion, awards, and pay.

It should have been obvious for a long time now but glad some of you are opening your eyes finally.

More opened to the fact that common sense is not so common any more.

While I agree, it’s more insidious than just lacking common sense. It’s lacking character. Moreover, in many cases, it a pathological issue. There are many cops that are sociopaths.

There's a conflict between the 1st and the 10th...

The first is clear in that you can assemble, say what you want etc...

The state has to prove the welfare of the people is vital.

Now that the numbers are coming in, I don't think they have the legal legs to stand on.

0.05% annual death rate or less is not enough, but I'm not a judge in this situation.

The numbers and the science is in...I get the quick reaction, but how they can lock anything down going forward is insanity. The original selling point was to flatten the curve so the burden on health services wouldn't be affected. Either that was accomplished, or the whole thing was a lie, one or the other.

If I had a prominent business in a state with a few hundred employees and we stayed locked down...I would sue the state's pants off.

Cops are hired guns to enforce laws

Give them a law and they’ll blindly, unthinkingly, enforce it

That’s what they’re paid to do

Same with military

To think otherwise is simply wishful thinking on our part

Trump is all that stands between us and them now

I've seen 2 times in my military career where this came up...I can talk about one of them.

So the tornado that hit Moore OK...the state needed X,Y,Z quickly, the base was barely affected and we had X,Y,Z...however, the AF and state in unison refused to act because of legal ramifications of the US military guarding destroyed homes from looters, etc...
The US military cannot legally stop a citizen from going to survey their property...

So the state of emergency was declared and limited title 10 forces where dispatched to work for title 32, quickly to make it legal...they had an old legal package that they tailored...so if a resident could prove it was their property yada yada yada...

You get the drift.

I didn't go in uniform, i reported to the police lieutenant running shite and handed water and candy bars out to people walking out of the destruction zone. My Commander was super nervous even about that.

This is over dramatic. Hasn't changed mine one bit because the 2nd amendment is a different animal than telling kids they can't play in the park. My son in law is a Texas cop and he doesn't believe hardly ANY cops would act to seize private held guns in a statewide or national confiscation.

When you see cops with shirts and stickers on cars that depict spartan helmets with the blue line through it, that speaks a lot to the mentality...a mentality of war against the people...

This and the 1* mentality (1 arse to risk).

Recent experience (with a family member no less) leads me to believe that cops will defend their paycheck and pension over your rights.

I like your answer. As I understand it, our rights only go so far until they imperil others. It's time to open again.

Cities are the problem with everything

And that's a problem. They think differently than rural people and now a slight majority of suburbanites. And that's where most people live. That can possibly turn Texas blue which really is a problem. It's a large state with a lot of congressional representatives.

Buuuuuuutttttt they are only doing their jobs! Being a cop is a thankless job.

Cops and their political paymasters know that the public as a whole values order over law.

Cops will and do lie if it suits their purpose.

Never talk to a cop, never trust a cop.

Learn it, live it!
