Gavin automatically locks down the 18-80 progressive vote nationwide. He's sooooo dreamy, and therefore automatically gets the vote of every suburban Range Rover driving Karen from sea to shining sea. The democratic party is extremely fractured with the Israel/Hamas thing and is permeated with openly radical Islam and unashamed antisemitism. For these reasons, I feel there's no way they go with the white Jew from the Midwest. They're going to try to play Gavin up as a successful progressive leader "who made California the fourth-largest economy on earth".
I want it to be a Harris/AOC ticket so we can see JDV destroy them hilariously in Reagan/Mondale fashion, but if the Dims have learned anything at all, they'll know a female Prez isn't going to happen.

in fact - i think all of these except Shapiro are hurting their cause by trying to be the face of the party right now. they are only hurting themselves by trying to score points against Trump.

CA has the highest cost of living in the nation.
Crime is soaring and unchecked. The passage of Props 47 and 57 (both championed by Gavin Newsom) tied the hands of law enforcement to crack down on crime and reduced many penalties to simple slaps on the wrist.
CA has the worst homeless crisis in the nation.
His handling of the LA fires was embarrassingly abysmal. In addition, the insurance crisis in CA was fanned by his incompetence. Several insurers have announced plans to increase rates or cease coverage in California completely.
His stance on immigration is probably his biggest Achilles heel. He’s publicly denigrated border patrol agents as racists, supported numerous changes in policies to take away their ability to do their jobs, supported a Sanctuary State law for California to ban any cooperation between law enforcement and ICE/border patrol agents, and has continued to increase welfare payments to illegal immigrants to incentivize them to come to the US illegally.

Beshear should be the obvious choice. However, they are too stupid to go for anyone remotely conceived moderate. Gavin now has way too much baggage, and won't even be actively in office. Kamala is laughable. That leaves AOC and Buttieg.And I would be willing to bet that would be the ticket and they will get demolished.

Everything you said, I pretty much agree with wholeheartedly. But I will say for clarity, that I only said Gavin will be the nominee. I didn't say he would win the Presidential GE. In debates, the moderators and other candidates won't dare hit him on immigration and homelessness issues, because the things that result in Cali's problems are the very platform of the DNC, and they'll avoid the topic to keep the egg off of ALL their faces. Gavin will tout California's economy as a monumental success in a progressive utopia, and the other candidates risk tanking the entire platform if they push back against him.
In Presidential debates, Vance vs. Gavin, JD will absolutely eviscerate the pretty boy with tactful logic and extreme prejudice.
