Their vested interest became to consolidate money and power…

If you are building a religion your goal is to prove they are divine and so your main fear is not that people will suspect he didn’t even exist but rather your fear is that people will know him as just a man
Earlier on, they had their celestial Jesus theology - one of a Yahweh being given a body of flesh by his father El Elyon, and they formed a secret plan for Yahweh to go into the lowest heaven where he would be mistaken for a human by the other sons of El (call them the Archons of this age) and killed there… his spilled blood would renew creation, and he would be resurrected by El and highly exalted to El’s right hand and given the name Jesus (Yahweh saves). Then and only then did he ever appear to humans on earth like Peter and Paul.
It wasn’t spreading very well as a religion especially among gentiles unfamiliar with Jewish angel theology. So like the Osiris cult priests, then invented a myth about an earthly version of Jesus. That myth caught on so well that the “real” meaning of Christianity was lost, and the earthly Jesus gentile cultists “won” against the original Christian theology.
The letters of 1/2 Peter and 1/2 John actually are written from the standpoint of the newer “earthly Jesus” cultists who are calling out the original Christian sect of the celestial Jesus as “antichrists” and liars.

So let's get to the crux, pun intended.
Same question, does God exist?

Maybe. Although if you’re the powerful looking to exploit the masses via a mythical savior, Jesus seems like a really bad choice.

Excellent point. What would be the appeal of a pseudo-bastard child born in a stall and first proclaimed by sheppards, a class of people whose testimony wasn't even allowed in court. An itinerate preacher that hung with some smelly fisherman and prostitutes that was ultimately killed by the Romans for sedition.
What a compelling mythical hero!

When Jesus was a refugee did he hop on the dole? Was he given housing and food credits?

Sounds like a great start for a populist anti wealth movement. As the Bible said if you don't give up everything you have to follow Jesus are you even a real follower?

Does the theology quality really matter when it is forced onto the citizenry via decree of the emperor?

That needs some modern interpretation.
Non stamp collector what Jesus really meant

Disagreeing with rape isn’t un-Christian
OK, now I know you are a complete dumbass.
You accused me of "loving rape".
I said making an unsubstantiated accusation like that was un-Christian.
It had nothing to do with whether or not you or I agree or disagree with rape.
For the record, rape is wrong and is a crime.
And you are an intellectual midget.

What Christians did in the name of Christ to other human beings that they determined to be inferior was just appalling. If you ever get a chance to visit Oklahoma City, you should tour the museum.
Been there, the building is really cool but it's a grievance museum. Most of the displays and messaging are to show the Native Americans as victims of European aggression/oppression, also a lot of Native American religious ceremonial beliefs.....still a decent museum but definitely a grievance museum.
The Cowboy/Western museum in OKC is a much better museum with great western history and the displays are outstanding.

I think the Christian movement has changed a bit since then.

Frankly, I don't believe this. I could be wrong, but I am guessing you've never engaged in an 8-page thread on the virtues of the postal service or the VFW.
The Church strikes a nerve for those proclaiming to be a-religious. And like moth to a flame they are compelled to engage in debate to denigrate it and its members. And here you are. If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have even opened the thread, let alone spend the time you have posting.
Wrong dipshit. You are the one who accused atheists of hating church. That had nothing to do with the topic of the thread. I responded to you, not the OP. Do you even logic?

No one is disputing this. The plight of the native Americans as a conquered people is a common one of those who lost their lands to invading empires throughout recorded history. None of that is relevant to the present discussion.
It just reaffirmed my atheism, even though it did not need reaffirming.
Those people who performed those acts read from and believed the same book of scripture as you.

No, but you look like one.
I made no proclamation.
You asked me a question. I gave you an answer. I owe you no proof. Take it or leave it.

2. It's not every day you come across someone using the "Christian Era" (CE) dating system on this board.
That's because there's a 99.9% chance that they did not themselves write said post. They cut and pasted it and are claiming it as their own.
