I've been called a liar and incompetent by people far more intelligent and accomplished than you.
Your need to remind yourself of how "smart" you are by insulting everyone's intelligence is a tell of your personal insecurities.

1. You obviously take a more "liberal" view than your historian counterparts as most New Testament scholars place the Gospel of John between the years AD 85-100.
2. It's not every day you come across someone using the "Christian Era" (CE) dating system on this board.

Funny the compilers stuck it at the end. It almost didn’t make it into the canon.
In reality, the Jesus of Revelation is more closely aligned with the epistle to the Hebrews and Paul’s epistles and to the Yahweh of the Old Testament than with a “turn the other cheek” Jesus of the gospels. In reality, Revelation was written before the gospels… in the time period when Paul’s epistles, 1 Peter, Jude, 1 Clement, Colossians, Ephesians, and James were written.
The gospel Jesus isn’t missing from Revelation. No reference is made to a Jesus on earth in revelation because those stories hadn’t yet been invented.
Whether it was written in 50CE or 100CE, it didn’t use any of the earthly Jesus stories of the gospels as a reference. In Revelation, it talks about when Jesus comes, not when he returns.

Wow that sucks. I’ve never been called that. But in my career I’ve generally been the one to get the call to correct the mistakes of others.

Sorry, I just can’t hardly believe someone who is a physiologist - who supposedly understands biology and genetics (or should) - would be a Christian apologist.
Christians and all religions are very adept at brainwashing, turning otherwise intelligent and educated persons into illogical close-minded sheep.

they just hate the Church and its Christians.
I could not care less about the church any more than I do any other institution. They do good things and bad things.
Yesterday I took my visiting daughter-in-law, who has never been to Oklahoma, to the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City. I had never been there myself, and she requested it.
What Christians did in the name of Christ to other human beings that they determined to be inferior was just appalling. If you ever get a chance to visit Oklahoma City, you should tour the museum.
Most of my loved ones and friends are Christians. Obviously, I do not hate them. In fact, I enjoy their company.

And we're done. I have no desire to debate a mythicist.

That is a strong accusation. Very un-Christian of you. I would never consider such a thing.

you don't understand what the letter X means.
Does God exist?

I’m certainly not qualified to discuss this subject but it does seem logical to me that throughout the years the Church powers that be would have a vested interest in eliminating evidence of Christ as a man. So it’s quite possible that the lack of evidence is intentional and not proof of anything other than protecting his image as a profit.
If you are building a religion your goal is to prove they are divine and so your main fear is not that people will suspect he didn’t even exist but rather your fear is that people will know him as just a man. As such it’s natural to assume that great pains would be taken to purge any evidence of him as just a regular Joe.
Interesting thread though. Nice to know I’ll have good company in hell!

Disagreeing with rape isn’t un-Christian

Frankly, I don't believe this. I could be wrong, but I am guessing you've never engaged in an 8-page thread on the virtues of the postal service or the VFW.
The Church strikes a nerve for those proclaiming to be a-religious. And like moth to a flame they are compelled to engage in debate to denigrate it and its members. And here you are. If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have even opened the thread, let alone spend the time you have posting.

No one is disputing this. The plight of the native Americans as a conquered people is a common one of those who lost their lands to invading empires throughout recorded history. None of that is relevant to the present discussion.

Wait... he purports to be smart? Seriously? I've never thought of him as anything more than a not very bright contrarian who doesn't know what he doesn't know.
