I think at this point anyone donating to Trump realizes that the majority of their donation isn't going toward getting Trump elected, but rather going toward legal expenses.
As of today Trump's campaign has spent a total of 70 grand on advertisements. That's simply not where dollars donated to Trump are going. To donate money toward getting Trump elected, you would want to donate to one of his PAC's (like MAGA Inc, who's spent 12 million dollars on pro-Trump advertising since Super Tuesday).
I think at this point those donating to Trump's campaign know they're giving money to pay his court expenses.
