Good, you seem a little bit under the weather this evening. You seem to be behind the curve a little.

He was wrong. There have been people trying to figure this out for a few weeks. The attorney general didn't issue an opinion, and the answer is clear as mud. We simply don't know.

I stand here today as a uniter not as a divider," says Mayor Kip Holden. "The question is are we going to draw a dividing line or work together for the future of everybody."

Except that's not what you're doing, Kip. If you really wanted to be a uniter, you'd be championing the message of the folks in st George and doing everything in your power to address their concerns. Instead, you and the Metro Council are mocking everything they say, claiming the tried and true goody "racism", and using every tactic you can to avoid a real debate. Congrats for pandering to your vote farm, Kip.

So Kip is only a "uniter" if he gives in to every demand of the SG leaders?

Does it seem odd to anyone else that NONE of the leaders of the St George incorporation effort spoke during the public hearing today regarding the Mall, et al, annexations?

That's not what I said. But ignoring their demands is the absolute worst way to deal with it.

Kip could gain a lot of political capital by listening to these people and having an honest discussion about it. Offer some options to them that don't involve incorporation. Fiscal issues aside, it's not as if St George is asking for anything unreasonable.

You said one of us was wrong. I was assuming you were intelligent enough to understand the context of your own argument, regarding what LR3 said last week. He was wrong, at that time. We did not then, nor do we know now with certainty what the effect of the annexation is on the petition. You are one obtuse old fricker.

The fire insurance thing is quite complicated as the mall owners own properties all over the nation and they buy insurance a lot differently than homeowners do.

Do you have some information showing how much GGP will save on insurance or are you just guessing?

It's been stated any a ton of articles.

LINK
quote:

“There was no real reason to ask for it to be annexed in the city limits,” says former property owner Phil Witter, whose family's Live Oak Arabians stables is nearby.

Today, the development receives access to CATS and at times Baton Rouge Police, but does not pay taxes specific to the city.

Towne Center developer Stephen Keller was apparently unaware of a benefit of annexation: cheaper fire insurance.

Towne Center is in the jurisdiction of the St. George Fire Department. Compared to the Baton Rouge Fire Department's Class 1 rating, St. George's Class 2 rating makes fire insurance more expensive. The difference, over the decades, had spurred many annexations among homeowners and property owners.

City police also serve Towne Center, despite its being in the jurisdiction of the sheriff's office.

I cannot wait for the EBRSO vs. BRPD pissing match over the extra duty details for AMC.

Class I and class II are nearly identical. Class II is still better than 98% of departments nationwide. Both BRFD, and SGFD are very, very good. We are not speaking of a significant difference.

Give me some examples? Kip can't give them their own school district. Only the State can do that. Kip mentioned tonight that over $300 million has been spent from the Green Light Program on road improvements in St. George. He also said for SG people to stay tuned because he has a big business announcement coming soon for that area.

You act like the SG area is turning to the slums under Kips watch or something lol.

Then how can you say with such certainty that today's annexation has no effect on the petition, which is what you did earlier in this thread?

You're an idiot. Here's what I said:

I know one thing: I just saw a whole lot of "Pro-St. George" signs get replaced with for sale signs this week.

There's already a backlash. The people in BR are too blind to see it.

So Keller didn't know he could get cheaper fire insurance, but the author did?

Why is that ?

I think Keller would know and the author is just guessing.

Leave him be , he's clearly off his game tonight.

He has got to be tired from looking for that 38 million dollar link by now.
