So the richest person in the world that is unelected has access to the treasury keys and people are ok with this? Plus conflicts of interest with his businesses as a major federal beneficiary. Not sure why Elon is trusted to this degree.

This is tantamount to Biden creating a government department out of thin air and assigning George Soros to head that department, giving him unfettered access to all data and mechanisms. Regardless of party, this isn’t cool.

If he abuses the system, he could lose all government contracts. I think he’s got plenty at stake.

Lose all of those contracts and go to Federal Prison.

The biggest worry would be that a diehard lib would send a payment to an entity linked to Musk and fake a claim they were coerced into doing it. We know the left has no morals and aren't shy to set something like that up.

Do you think he's going to embezzle a few million dollars for his own personal gain?

Please point out where DOGE has any executive or enforcement authority.

Have you ever crusaded against all these left-wing NGOs that have used taxpayer money to subvert and defy American law???

If the bureaucrats in DC thought this meant there would be some more blue ribbon study committees, lots of talk, and the bureaucracy would keep on running things with only limited input from the elected President, as it has done for 50 years, that's on them.

I guarantee you that is exactly what they thought. Some panel would be 'empowered' to study the 'problem' for two years and then issue a report on government waste that nobody reads.

With the exception of classified contracts - I’m of the opinion that this should all be public info. The entire accounting trail tied to the agency, department, and legislation that authorizes it.

Data lakes and BI reports can do wonders for visualization and transparency.

That’s just it, they don’t have any “authority”, yet they’re infiltrating systems without oversight. We have no idea if the actions they are taking are good, bad, legal, illegal, etc. There are no checks and balances in place for this.

I honestly don’t see the parallel in this question. An NGO may be funded by taxpayer dollars, but that funding is approved through governmental processes with oversight. Also, those NGOs aren’t implanted into systems like the Treasury or Human Resources of the US government.

I get that people may like the idea of creating more efficiency in the federal system, but this isn’t the way. Again, I point to the Soros hypothetical. If the roles were reversed nobody here would be ok with it, and with good reason.

Ya wanna know who had the 'keys' to the US Treasury?

It was an obamaTURD appointed by the illegal alien himself.

It was literally a Nigerian 'princess'. This scum had his finger on the whole $6 trillion dollar US federal buget.

Now we are going to start seeing WHERE our damn money has been going.

THE BIG QUESTION OF THEM ALL, IS WHERE THE HELL HAS OUR CONGRESS BEEN THE LAST 50 YEARS?

Most people I know believe our government is corrupt. The question you should ask is, "Who is monitoring the system now? Who is validating the payments and other outgoing transactions?

Elon is NOT going to be a popular dude. He's going to have more scrutiny than anyone in history of what he and his staff do while reviewing. What are you afraid he is going to be doing?

I think they are going to find that there is a total lack of oversight and accountability. I think you're going to see money flying out of there and going to a lot of questionable sources. I think it will be eye opening, but I don't expect to see a lot of checks going to Zelensky with a notation of "Bribe money" on them. I think we're just going to see a lot of money continuously going to questionable source and the amounts are going to be more than we anticipated and there won't be any accountabitity for where it goes.

I think it is going to be great when those transactions are brought to light and questions are asked.

I would have e a problem if he had create/change access in the system. I don't see an issue with display access.

C'mon it doesn't work like that. He gives money to Trump and Republican SuperPACs, Trump gets elected, gets power, but still has to pay off his benefactors in kind. Of course he didn't give money directly to Trump personally.....but this is just as good.

Elon must be paid for his 100+million. Elon ain't doing this for free

Having access to look at and maybe audit, does not mean he has “the keys”. DOGE isn’t going to be making or not making payments. They are recommending ways to cut costs. That’s it.

As opposed to unelected, lifelong bureaucrats with little to no accountability?

For now, yes.

The “oversight” has been pretty fricking bad. Time for a new approach because the way things have been done for decades isn’t fricking working.
