To pretend that we could have done it without the soviets is a delusional idea at best.

You mean the soviets that relied on our equipment to even field a functional army?

They’ve brought in droves of the finest young men and women the Middle East and Africa have to offer. Surely they can defend themselves.

With the help of the United States. You do realize that correct?

The initial attack on Kiev failed mostly due to Russian military incompetence than anything the US did. If they had taken Kiev in the first week this war would have been long over.

The soviets couldn’t do it at all without the US subsidizing their industrial sector. The Germans would have mowed them down even more than they had with that assistance and would have never recovered from Operation Barbarossa. If the battle of Kursk never happens, Germany likely does not fall in the East and could move more men, armor and planes to the west to combat us and the English.

Hindsight in 20/20 though

No I don’t think I will. I’m not saying that Europe is exceptionally strong militarily, but Russia is straight garbage water. France alone would wipe the floor with Russia. They don’t need our help. They’re just greedy and don’t want to pay for it because they know they’ll have to cut back on entitlements and social programs. NATO has been nothing more of a welfare program for Europe for at least 35 years.

Europe CAN defend itself.

They just WON’T.

They won’t pay for it. And why should they, as long as we are so willing to foot the bill at the cost of our populace.

The French would surrender to an aggressive Boy Scout troop.

When did Europe ever defend itself without our help?

When Ceasar was running things over there. So, like 50 BC.

History says otherwise

Western Europe greatly reduced their military footprint post-WW2/British colonialism and the US kept building ours up. Without US intervention (or nukes), Russia or China could bulldoze through Europe faster today than Hitler if they wanted to.

The only things keeping the world from chaos is money, regime survival, and mutually assured destruction. China needs to sell discount consumer goods to the entire world and Russia needs to sell their petroleum products to countries they haven't been embargoed out of.

French military will and strategy has been in short supply since the end of WWI.

There’s a reason they make jokes about the French military’s performances in WWII, French Indochina, and Algeria.

Maybe, but they’re still the best in Europe. And it’s obvious that Russia’s army is pretty awful.

That appears to be a very low bar right there.

60 years of military and social welfare have created a huge problem. Very few countries in Europe that didnt breakaway from the Iron Curtain are weak and have allowed Muslims to become a cancer that they can't stop.

Fortunately the British banks quit funding the german war machine. Of course, they waited until Russia had lost about 11 million men.

doesnt really matter, the world order will start to be restored once Trump is out of office. Might take some years though before we can be fully trusted again though.

First they needed Vlad. Then they needed the United States.

They don't have the stomach for what it takes to remain free and, other than Vlad or the Spaniards, never did.

That said, not sure we do any more either. I know a large subset of the US does, but currently the US as a whole? Shaky
