Fair. He didn’t literally predict 10,000 deaths. He just floated that number under rosy-arse assumptions, called higher projections “bad science fiction,” and gave everyone looking to downplay COVID a nice comfy soundbite to rationalize their tribal epistemology - just like OP.
If you think that’s quality science communication, cool. Most of us saw a guy in love with his own contrarian take & and the internet ran with it. He's a good scientist with a great previous track-record who has weirdly dug in on this. I'm a little surprised he hasn't ended up with an administration post yet.

What’s the topic of the article?
The WHO’s CFR.
What was the WHO’s CFR?
3.4
I think that classifies as bad science fiction. Especially when we had data from China as of March 2020 that the hospitalization rate was close to 3.5.
Please defend more of the Covid shite. It delights me.

Probably did not save anyone. And killed some. And babies of vaxed Moms are not good

It's a bait-and-switch to make Ioannidis look reasonable because the WHO was wrong. His take curdled like milk and you're trying to repackage it as retroactive wisdom. Sadly, we expect some disinfo on the poliboard, but a dude who was right to call social science out for replication problems is really falling down by not framing uncertainty responsibly and nudging people toward complacency with swagger and selective numbers which isn't justifiable no matter what the WHO did.

The WHO’s position didn’t curdle like milk? Gtfo

but the strange thing about mass widespread events is something can be huge in the stats (like 1 in 330 Americans dead)
Not as strange as fraudulent pieces of shite like you that constantly, to this day, peddle lies about the severity of covid and the effectiveness of the “vaccine”, and equivocated getting the shot to wearing a seatbelt.

The WHO being wrong still has him spun 5 years later. A bunch of these guys do brilliant science and then go down rabbit holes. Newton came up with the mathematics of gravity then chased alchemy and biblical prophecy (he might be a Qtard today). Pauling thought vitamin C was the answer to everything. Ionnidis is making his second act - pandemic minimization?

It's a good analogy.
You baws have a fairy tale notion of vaccine created by the high bar of us getting rid of so many viral illnesses from the public imagination and even from nature and the media hyped the vaccine so irresponsibly that you're still in a tizzy today.

The WHO being spectacularly wrong on world health should have all of us spun 50 years later.
We know why you don’t think it’s a big deal.

It’s a genuinely stupid analogy on so many levels. Makes sense that it’s coming from a genuinely stupid person.
The best part is you whining in this thread about a world renowned scientist intentionally misleading and his communications with the public, while still peddling this genuinely stupid analogy in the same thread.

Your ilk literally had to change the long-published definition of the word to attempt to justify it being used for the covid shots.

The media, the medical establishment, you, etc.

Pointing out that you’re genuinely stupid and objectively a piece of shite is stating facts. There is no tizzy.

That said, the vaccines did show clinical benefit in reducing the severity of symptoms and definitely saved lives. The need for some to deny these facts puzzles me.
From the article - "The team estimated that nine of 10 prevented deaths were in the over-60s, with jabs saving just 299 people aged under 20, and 1,808 people aged between 20 and 30 globally."
Now, subtract myocarditis and rapid offset cancers to get large negative numbers. This "vaccine" was made using a completely new platform with no long term studies and poor protocol in the short term studies. Actual science said give it to as few as possible. If the numbers in the article are correct, the vaccine killed more athletes on the field that it "saved" from covid.

It's easy, baw. Vaccines are like seatbelts. Neither is perfect technology. They can both harm you, but they can keep you out of the ICU or the morgue. We use both because they help much more than harm. Hope that helps.

What do y'all think about his methodology?
Also, according to Table 2 - he is counting 454,272 lives saved in people who were previously infected! How many previously infected people died when contracting Covid a second time?
So he is not adjusting for any risks from the vaccine. Measuring vaccine effectiveness at 75% and 50% for preventing deaths in all cohorts and also counting almost 500K previously infected as being saved by the vaccine. Is this right?

Our estimates do not separate deaths averted from VE vs deaths caused from vaccination related harms.

Being alarmed early on was responsible, not irrational. This ended up killing a million Americans even with (not great) mitigation. China had overwhelmed hospitals, people dying quickly, and it was definitely brand-new virus with no immunity or vaccine. It was spreading fast, and China wasn’t exactly known for transparent data. In a situation like that, you don’t wait for perfect information. Just like you’d evacuate if there's smoke even before flames are confirmed. Hindsight is 20/20, but in real time, caution was prudent and almost every country in the world had similar or more restrictive policies than we did.

How many people have lost their jobs for not wearing seatbelts?
How many people have had to provide proof of seatbelt wearing to enter public buildings, use public transportation, etc?
How many people have been denied other necessary medical treatments because they didn’t wear a seatbelt?

What are the known medical harms from wearing a seatbelt?

Vaccines definitely keep people that get them out of icu’s and morgues.
The covid shot does not and never has definitely done either.
That’s why it’s not a vaccine.
That’s why stupid people like you had to change the definition of the word.
quote:
We use both because they help much more than harm.
Seatbelts were trialed for how long before being installed in cars? How does that compare to the normal trials of new safety features in cars?
Covid shots were trialed for how long before being forced on the general public? How does that compare to the normal trials of new pharmaceuticals being offered to the general public?
Seat belts have verified, undisputed effectiveness and safety statistics. What are the covid shots verified and undisputed effectiveness and safety statistics?
quote:
Hope that helps.
You ceasing to exist would be helpful. You continuing to peddle lies and stupidity is the opposite of helpful.
