Edwin Edwards presided over the Constitution we now have. Why change? We only need to amend it, and amend it, and amend it, and amend it, and amend, and amend it...

And besides, it a great excuse for the legislature and the governor to use when they don’t want to cut any fat out to balance the budget so they can raise taxes instead.

Reform DOTD, make sure all gas taxes go to concrete, etc.

Cut taxes, they are too high now.

Make La. business friendly once again.

He’s big on trade schools.

Not cutting out Medicaid Expansion but wants to cap enrollment. Wants to curb fraud and abuse in that area which the LA has said is excessive.
Why didn't he just say, "I want more unicorns and rainbows"??

"Cut taxes" is not a plan. "I'll reduce the top income tax rate" would be a plan. "I'll allow more deductions for certain types of expenses" would be a plan.

Every city of any size in Louisiana already has a trade school. Does he want more trade schools? Bigger trade schools? How would he pay for them? Is there a demand for more or bigger trade schools because students can't get in one now due to overcrowding?

What "business friendly" actions does he want to take? Will he eliminate some permits? Which ones? Will he reverse JBE's local approval of 10 year tax exemptions for new construction? (Now THAT would a great plan!)

How would he reform DOTD? The last legislature passed a bill that the highway trust fund (TIME) cannot be used to pay DOTD or state police salaries like what was happening previously, thank goodness. So how would he change it to only pay for concrete?

I'm going to vote for him. Or, truthfully, I'm going to vote AGAINST JBE.

But Rispone is the biggest political black hole in our history when it comes to information about what he would do as governor.

You campaign on generalities, and govern on specifics.

JBE said he wouldn't raise taxes and did. Rispone said he'd cut taxes now. JBE said he wouldn't cut taxes now. That's plenty enough for me.

JBE didn't say he'd reform our high way system even though we have a 13 Billion dollar backlog. The DOTD building over by I-110 seems to be full, yet we don't have funds to build roads so we leverage our future federal money to get something going while the administrators and engineers at DOTD plan and plan and plan. Rispone said he'd reform DOTD, and use more of the money on actual roads. That change good enough for me.

Rispone has pushed for trade schools when Jindal was Governor. Many were built, and they need to be supported and adapted to the changing market. Has Edwards said anything about the trade schools?

I don't know what business friendly actions Rispone needs to take, but he doubt he's supporting lawsuits against industry and I doubt he's making it tougher for industry to do business in Louisiana like Edwards has.

I'm voting Rispone too, and you can call Rispone a black hole, but we know what Edwards is all about, and the choice is easy to make. We can take a chance on Rispone who has successfully been a CEO and who has dealt with budgets on a small and large scale, and who has run a fairly large construction business and who has dealt with people all across the country; or we can let Edwards get back in and keep doing what he's been doing.

And as an aside, Trump was a black hole too, and I believe Rispone (on a smaller scale) has many of the same attributes that Trump has as far as being a CEO, running a business, and someone who isn't a career politician.

No, he wasn't. Trump had been in the public eye for 40 years before he ran for office. Everybody knew what they were getting with him.

I'd never heard of Eddie Rispone until this election cycle.

Trump didn't talk specific policy, he talked about things he wanted to do, not how he was going to do them, same as Rispone.

Really?????
I think Trump has proven to be as radical of a president as I've ever seen in my lifetime (I'm 68).
He is so unconventional, he is not anything like a traditional politician. I don't think anyone could have fully expected what we have today.

And I'm saying this in a positive way.

ETA: Okay, I made that last one up.....

Fix the school system, quit taxing us into oblivion because of a bloated governmental system so we can become a more desirable place for businesses and families.

Yes, but very few specifics and since the opposition was on the opposing side of all these issues, we all voted Trump.

I am convinced either she, or her husband, were let go from his company. She clearly has an ax to grind.
