The way out of this to create Novorussiya. It would essentially be the old Cossack split along the Dneiper River. Ukraine loses territory but instead of losing it to Russia is loses territory to its Eastern looking other part.
This is the best solution for all. Russia gains no territory but gains influence and a buffer. Ukraine loses territory to Russian Ukrainians not to Russia. This is a deal Trump could make. Nobel Prize guaranteed.

Define reasonable and realistic from Putin's perspective.
Right now he's surviving with sanctions in place and a western alliance that is fighting each other over petty stuff.

He gets to keep Donbas and Crimea. Western guaranteed security for Ukraine with a possible land bridge to Crimea. Most economic sanctions go away.
