None of this is true.

Yes, and put the money towards helping kids effected by sexual abuse, physical abuse, etc...

Putting more funding towards programs to help kids who have faced childhood trauma will lead to better adjusted adults and a net plus on society.

Yes. Some churches are sitting on millions and millions of dollars of property values that aren't going to the public schools (most of property tax $ goes to schools). If they paid taxes and every entity, not just churches then my tax burden would be lower.

Edit: 100% yes to property taxes, not to income/donations.

No. They would just find something else to spend that money on.

Same with all non-profits, I don’t think churches should be taxed, but I think if you are tax exempt you should have to publicly disclose your financials. More taxes are never good, my ancestors were told the “income tax” was temporary and look where we are now, crumping infrastructure but billions are sent out by the government to every other country that asks for it.

Humor us and explain how one person can open a church and get everything tax free. Go ahead. I’d love to hear it.

It’s not easy, but the church of Scientology is a good case study.

Yep. Because when more people move into an area, the government reviews its tax income, compares it to what received before, and then cuts your taxes every year. Right?

When businesses move in and pay more sales tax.. your property taxes drop. Right?

Property taxes are calculated based off of values at the start of the year. Those values then get hashed with school boards to make the appropriate millage.

Yes, it would lower your property tax burden. I'm not talking about sales taxes.

But as it sits now, the property tax burden is not split proportionately because of exemptions.

Churches own houses (not just a parsonage) and pay no fricking taxes but collect income.
