No one should ever stop to charge alone past midnight. Sitting ducks and the liberals could care less if you are robbed and killed. I am sure it won't be 1/16th of time that it takes to fill with gas.

Takes 5 min to pump gas. And your blowing smoke out of ur arse if you think your getting 80%charge in 20 min. You can’t do that to your cell phone. Be realistic and use common sense.
Next, every mile driven reduces battery life and every recharge is one less charge bf the battery life ends. Now factor in 100 degree days in FL. How does that ax affect charging while sitting there? How about Minneapolis in January
Yeah, none of that matters for this perfect answer to all of mans problems
Another thought... the electronics in these cars is like windows 3.1. When the batteries die in 6 years the electronics won’t be compatible causing the vehicle to be worthless or potentially so.

Whether we want to admit it, Tesla type vehicles are the future and that future is coming up on us fast.

Get out of the car, stand around and blab to others, hook up for a blow behind the charging stations, enjoy.

How much does it cost, to do an 80% charge on one? Do you need to call the local power plant, and tell them to throw a couple of extra shovels of coal in the generator?

I rode in a Mustang Mach E the other day. Really nice and more affordable than Tesla. The torque is awesome. Id consider getting one.

I’m not sure how long it takes to get a good chunk of the charge but stopping every couple hours for 30 minutes isn’t that bad, nor is it very good. Do they charge for these stations? If so, how much to charge up one time?

I've had a model 3 since June 2018. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get about 270 miles at a supercharger and about 40 minutes to get 325. It cost about $8.
I charge 99.99% at home, cost me less than $5 to fill up

Americans will balk at sitting around for twenty minutes
I think we've seen enough evidence that Americans will do exactly what they're fricking told.

There’s a company whose name I can’t recall who is working on a battery solution where you can pull in to a station and swap batteries in 90 seconds. Similar to swapping out your propane tank.

Nio the chinese company does battery swaps. I dont think Tesla is trying to go that route its a diff concept.

They can probably make that work for now, because there aren't many electric vehicles on the road, so they have plenty of time to recharge batteries. How would that work, if demand was high and even 50% of vehicles were electric? You would need a big workforce at every station, just to handle the batteries.

I imagine it's hard as hell to plan a long road trip in those
I remember the 8 bit guy doing a road trip from Dallas to Waco in an electric car. It involved him having to find a hotel with a charger to spend the night to charge for a 100 mile trip.

For the actual vehicle...with the upgraded battery?

Oh, just regular batteries I suppose. How much does the battery upgrade cost? You would have to add that cost in, to get an actual average of the recharging costs.

Do you think that will become the new normal where are you just sit in your car for a couple of hours while your batteries charge that seems stupid to me
Remember how those electric trolley cars were attached to the overhead cable. In the future that's how it will be. No passing will be allowed and we will drive in a straight line. No more road rage incidents. No more street racing. Everyone will be Sunday drivers. Mr. Biden's new infrastructure bill will set all this up to make it easier for everyone. It's gonna be soooo great!

I think most people would charge at home unless they are on a long trip. Right now there are some chargers that are free but they would be busy when a lot more people get EVs.

Considering how many fricking questions I have to answer to get gas now they’re sure tying to make that process take as long as possible.

I meant:
Used Tesla model 3, 2018, 23,608 miles, long range model (260 mile range...
)
$43,200.00
And that is middle range of the lower tier car.
No thanks.
