How are planning to sell the power? Just curious.
The guy I usually partner with in these handles that side. I mostly do the technical diligence and find the capital (tep or other), etc. I’m not in a hurry but I’m sure NRF, A&M or whoever else I pull in can point me in the right direction, DNV usually has some resources too I just haven’t gotten there yet. We’ve been focused on trying to understand the TSRF and grid logistics.

Buying or selling. If I helped dump any bad tranches on you... it' wasn't pwrsonal. Just business.

I'd get your plans on the "the books" in a hurry.
I actually already have an interconnection approval for the wind deal that was approved for this and got blown up. I have zero experience with this happening though but we’re hopeful that we can just use that one or modify it, something to streamline the process.

Power has gone out for a second time. Been out for an hour.

I see nothing wrong with wind/solar for individual independence but it comes at a very steep price... and makes little sense at scale, generally speaking.
Wind and solar provide nothing but OFF PEAK POWER.
Basic Earth Sciences ...... Sun rises, heats earth, wind blows ....eventually the motors in the wind tower tell the propeller to turn.....Try this again ...WITHOUT Power Production down line ....most often FOSSIL fuel ...there is no wind power.
Same with solar ....no sun ...after peak, ....easy to figure out ....And I have worked with Obama's best, First Solar and the Wind gods ....

Ok, so the most important question, what companies(if any) might benefit from this energy issue in the short term?
Thinking stock market plays of course.
It’s too short term.

OFF Peak is 10pm - 6am so Solar almost never provides Off Peak.

So will this affect other states energy prices like MS?

While true for solar and maybe for a lot of wind, you can’t say wind doesn’t peak produce. I’ve sat in the middle of Horse Hollow at 7pm with every generator around me rolling balls to the wall, and that wasn’t a fluke. It’s more normal than abnormal out there. There are plenty of places that just get a shite load of wind.

Yikes. Can you even keep the pool running with Temps consistently below freezing like they are now?
Salt water and deep end-yes
Chlorine play pool-difficult

In north Spring (Houston, TX)
We haven’t been hit with one of the rolling blackouts yet. We have a newborn, so the anticipation of that happening tonight with record lows.

DeltaLand I should have more info in a bit about the deep south. Mississippi Alabama and Georgia

quote:It's the only option. We have a tarp and heat light set up but just running the pump will keep the water moving and keep things from freezing. You could run the heater but that would probably be a waste. But you have to keep water moving in the heater or it's ruined. We have a low of 6 or 7 tonight. We've not seen that since we have had the pool. Our pump has been on for 48 hours and have probably another 48 to go. If we lose power, not sure what we will do.
Yikes. Can you even keep the pool running with Temps consistently below freezing like they are now? Obviously we don't even try that up north.

Open water is getting scarce, have you considered throwing in a few decoys? A hundred or so mallards would keep it open but you might not want to get the water in your mouth afterwards.
Don't think that would work here, we had 26 below last night, warmed up to minus 8 right now and headed back to minus 26 tonight.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that it’s not financially feasible to keep a fully operational supply line ready to mobilize for no reason other than a “maybe”.
The military does it because that’s their job and they aren’t there to be financially solvent.
Power companies aren’t gonna sit around and pay to keep natural gas/oil flowing for no reason other than their wind may not work one day, possibly.
This episode is a stark reminder of the dangers of “renewable” energy.
Once you turn off the spigot, it’s hard to turn it back on when you have an emergency.

quote:Doubt I would have a pool if that was a possibility here. The skimmer and main drain pipes are 2 in diam. The pipes really aren't the concern. It's pump, the robot cleaner pump and the heater. If we lose power, I would probably wrap the pumps, heater with quilts and blankets and hope for the best. The sand filter would probably be OK. Then hope for the best. If the heater bit the dust, I would probably just bypass it and not replace it. We probably don't use it 5 times a year.
