An OPEN BORDER "affects things" too; far more damaging than the shut down that focuses public attention on an issue that - if not addressed - will result in the "fundamental change" to Global Democratic Authoritarian Socialism. That is the issue at hand.

Seems like you are missing the point of your own thread. Most Americans are not noticing anything. It is only those who are Government Employees/Contractors and people who are on various government programs that are noticing anything. This shutdown is showing us what a laughingstock the government actually is. Sure, there are some essential parts of government but there is also a lot of waste and bloat that Americans can go without.

Depends on your line of work and industry. Smart individuals won't be handcuffed to the Government.

Therefore, companies are being affected.

The majority are not.

And GDP will be affected

Yes in industries that solely rely on the government teet.

Then they add this shite, knowing the above.

Hacks gonna hack though.
True, but here's the hackiest part of all.

What do you remember about the bad things that happened when Clinton shut the government down for 44 day in a 2 month span...or are the memories too difficult to relive?

I’m getting your corporate jet safely to its destination. Pay me on time.
TSA and air traffic will work a tremendous amount of people and planes for the Super Bowl. Crazy idea. Pay them for it. Pay em on time, too.

I would be in favor or reopening the government in whatever way possible.

How have you or anyone you know been affected so far?

The long term benefits by slowing the tide of low skilled workers GREATLY outweighs any short term decline.

So what this shutdown has shown me is this: Contractors can do work a HELL of a lot more effectively and efficiently than the government can. Farm some of that work out to the private sector with MINIMAL government oversight.

BP had $3.8 billion in profit for Q3/18

O&G can afford to bankroll their workers for a few months

None of those things should depend on the government to happen in the first place.

I'm concerned that breweries not getting approved is the second thing that came to your mind.

Maybe Pelosi and the House Democrats should pass a bill.
The last GOP House did.
Then the Senate Democrats filibustered it in the Senate.

Hell, Pelosi has already signaled her determination to keep the shutdown alive and well to at least the State of the Union.

All because Democrats refuse to give Trump 1/10th of a cent on the budget dollar!

Democrats are now 1/10th of a penny wise, but a dollar foolish.

The regulations should be eliminated today.

No, he is not. Safety and protection of the environment is something that has been demonstrated time and again that is a MUST for Federal oversight. For the most part, corporations just WILL NOT do it unless there are consequences imposed upon them.
