the unemployment rate fell to 3.4%—coming in below expectations for it to tick up to 3.6% and instead hitting the lowest level since 1969.

Now do the labor participation rate and you’ll get a good idea of what bullshite this is.

Unemployment Rate Reaches Record Low as new accounting method only counts people who have jobs.

It's really not the govt. The problem is boomers are retiring at a faster rate than young people entering the workforce. Families don't have as many kids as they used to. Labor participation will continue to decline for some time.

It's also why social security and Medicare is broke.

Right under the headline they show the household survey was unchanged. The last time this happened was when the Fed overtightened in 07-08 timeframe

Or....

You could educate yourself on how this number is figured out, and how administrations over the years have altered the formula.

In today's lesson of "what is reality, really?", you need to look at the labor participation rate to discover how much of a lie this new number is.

Yep, big lie. Men can give birth and the economy is great! Woohoo! America!!

I only believed the unemployment numbers when they came from the Trump administration. Every other President lies about those numbers to make themselves look good.

I think the stats are right, but remember, when people give up on finding a job, they are taken out of the denominator.

The reason unemployment looks good is because, post covid, millions have completely given up on working.
