I've got a great idea.

Let's rewrite scripture because we're too lazy and worldly to adhere to it.

Ask Sodom and Gomorrah how that worked out.

How do you know if they are good and decent when they are quite literally living a lifestyle that is condemned by scripture?

None worthwhile.

It’s typical progressive reinterpretation to fit their secular ideology.

So let me get this straight

Gays and lesbos want to preach and push their agenda in a traditional church setting. A minority.

The vast majority of traditional orthodox methodists are now told they have to essentially leave (split) and the church is going to side with the minority gay and lesbo

frick this gay earth

It should be the other way around. You don't like the teachings then form your own fricking church

Do you get dumber with each post or does it only seem like it?

The Episcopal Church killed itself off and looks like Methodists will do the same.

The true believers will migrate elsewhere.

The heretics will have pretend church for a few years and fade away.

The vast majority of "progressive" Christians are actually atheists.

I believe it’s a question of repentance.
A divorced person can - and probably is - repentant for being divorced.

However, a practicing homosexual isn’t likely repentant of their sinful lifestyle.

So now they're to be called the un-United Methodist Church?

It’s just another organization to push their progressivism. Once you strip it of its soul, they all realize they can sleep in until 10 on a Sunday and go to a coffee shop and pat each other on the back about how liberal they are. Who wants to get up early Sunday?

Why is the new denomination the ones who are more traditional? Why not boot the leftists out?

The church (followers of Christ) take in everyone. That is their true mission. The Church (the people) openly accepts divorcees, drug addicts, homosexuals, etc.. The Church is not supposed to be a club for the pious. Rather, a hospital for sinners.

The issue here is when clergy ( leadership) openly endorses and accepts the breaking of Torah Law, Natural Law, or the teachings of Christ as okay.

The should stand firm on the principle that homosexuality is an affront to God just as much as any other sin but that the sinner is never to be kept from the love and redemption of Christ amongst fellow believers (the Church.)

Homosexual followers of Christ are my brothers and sisters as much as the divorcee or drug or porn addict who fight sins and temptations every waking moment that they are alive.

The traditional Methodists leadership has compromised for one reason. Expand the $$$ train.

How many people who go to church are divorced? How many get tipsy or drunk on game days? How can we support that when it’s condemned by scripture?

But a divorced person who remarries is actively committing adultery. What have they repented from when they are actively living in sin? They can only repent by going back to their original spouse.

Nobody goes into a marriage intending for a divorce. All enter a homosexual relationship intending to have sex that the church views as sinful.

Like all other liberal denominations this it will die a swift death. I have a family who are gay and this is a hard subject for me personally, but scripture is clear on this issue. It is also very clear on divorce. But it does come down to repentance and turning from sin ultimately.
