That's not fair.

He decisively acted in ordering the shoot down of the Chinese spy balloon. After it had completed transited from Alaska, across CONUS, and into the Atlantic. All the while transmitting data as it moved over military installations.

The military installations that are visible by satellite and anybody can look up on Google Earth? If the silos aren't open then what do they see?

That balloon was laughable... the reason we did not shoot it down immediately was because it allowed us to infiltrate the Chinese military computer network that it was transmitting stuff to... so it was great for us and incredibly stupid for China. And it was just some official there who did it as a psy op to freak out Americans, on his own... Xi had no idea. I wouldn't put money on that guy still breathing.

The cartel has been using consumer drones out there for quite some time to scout BP and Guard locations. Seeing one usually meant that a bunch of bodies were about to get pushed through the wall and run south. I guess this could concerning those, or maybe something more substantial flying over the wall.

Maybe. Maybe not. How did we let's things get THIS far??

Could this possible be a FF and prelim excuse (see Venezuelan "drug-boats" ---> Venezuelan takeover) to hammer Mexico into submission?

Plausible. But was the claimed(cover) story reality?

Tracking it 4000 miles from Alaska to South Carolina before NOT capturing it (and harvesting info) but by blowing a balloon up with a missile? Seems weak.

IF it was indeed a "Chycom Balloon", wouldn't one assume they could have deactivated the balloon and blown it up remotely at any time?

From Grok:

quote:

Based on available records, White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in New Mexico, which is the largest overland testing facility in the DoD, has conducted over 42,000 rocket and missile tests since 1945. The airspace is regularly restricted and closed to civilian traffic for these frequent, ongoing tests, though a specific, total count of closures since 2000 is not publicly enumerated.

Routine Closures: As the premier military test range, White Sands Missile Range frequently restricts airspace for daily or weekly, or even, in some cases, hourly testing of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Safety Restrictions: Access to the airspace and surrounding areas is restricted during tests to ensure public safety, with over 3,200 square miles of range available.

It’s time to roll the 3rd Corps through northern Mexico and level everything.

It's way past time to bring the fight to them. It should be easy peasy. If another one pops up, just do it again.

Sounds like a probing action by the Cartels to me. For the record that appears to be a border intrusion by the Cartels or...........

Gas up the A-10's and load'um up with ammo. I love watching those birds destroy targets.

Neutralize the source, then no more drones.

That's where I'm at. Drop some kinetics on the drone operators instead of just letting them get new drones. If they get new drone operators, repeat. Eventually, no one will want the job.

What is Sheinbaum going to do about it if we start taking her buddies out? Nothing. We can "Maduro" her, too and she knows it. The whole world has been put on notice and we need to capitalize while we can, before some liberal doofus reclaims power and reverses everything.

This thing is so weird. The FAA announces, at midnight, a 10-day shutdown of the nation's 23rd busiest airport, and then rescinds it less than 12 hours later?

Either someone totally fricked up, there was very bad communication between the military and the FAA, or there is a high-level pissing contest going on between the military and the FAA.

We'll probably never know the real truth.

Also, probably a bunch of cartel guys in Mexico sitting around laughing their asses off right now.

Well we now have an opening to show them what a real drone can do.

Officials on Wednesday offered conflicting explanations for a temporary closure of airspace over El Paso, after the Federal Aviation Administration rescinded an order issued hours earlier to ground flights for 10 days.

Sean Duffy, the Secretary of Transportation, and officials from the White House and the Pentagon said Mexican cartel drones breached U.S. airspace, prompting the temporary closure of airspace over El Paso. But two people briefed by Trump administration officials said the shutdown was prompted by the Defense Department’s use of new counter-drone technology and concerns about the risks it could pose to other aircraft in the area.

Initially, the agency cited “special security reasons” late Tuesday night, halting all flights to and from El Paso International Airport for 10 days and isolating a major American metropolitan area from air travel. The closure, which appeared to surprise state and local officials, went into effect at 11:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday and was lifted a little before 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

“There is no threat to commercial aviation,” the agency said on social media. “All flights will resume as normal.”

The unexpected but brief airspace closure in the Texas border city of El Paso stemmed from disagreements between the Federal Aviation Administration and Pentagon officials over drone-related tests, multiple sources close to the matter told CBS News.

The Pentagon had undertaken extensive planning on the use of military technology near Fort Bliss, a military base that abuts the El Paso International Airport, to practice taking down drones.

Two sources identified the technology as a high-energy laser.

Meetings were scheduled over safety impacts, but Pentagon officials wanted to test the technology sooner, stating that U.S. Code 130i requirements governing the protection of certain facilities from unmanned aircraft had been met.

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford on Tuesday night decided to close the airspace — without alerting White House, Pentagon or Homeland Security officials, sources said.

Earlier this week, the anti-drone technology was launched near the southern border to shoot down what appeared to be foreign drones. The flying material turned out to be a party balloon, sources said. One balloon was shot down, several sources said.

Have you ever reviewed "official" statements from the government and thought, "Hey, they might not be telling me the whole story..."?

Whether or not you agree with their reasoning, that has happened a time or two in our nation's history for security reasons (at least ostensibly).
