I would never accept a reparations check. At best, I would donate it to LSU’s general scholarship fund, or a charity I feel strongly about.

Some things are more important than money and this is a hard line for me.

What? They got islands to go to. It’s not like the Africans want them or that they could survive back there anyway

I may be the outlier here but I would be against it as long as certain things are met.

Have to have proof that ancestors have been slaves.
Have to also prove that none of your ancestors were members of tribes that sold slaves (Ashanti)
Have to prove that none of your ancestors owned slaves.

then, if you agree to accept reparations, then you and your immediate family forgo any future governmental benefits. No medicare, medicaid, food stamps, housing, etc.

It's a one time payment and you will not ever receive any other benefit.

If you're broke in a month, which many will be, tough shite.

most have recieved much more than that 300K in various forms of "reparations"... extreme preferential treatment in the work force (how many have jobs that they aren't remotely qualified for?), education "opportunities"(scholarships and grants that many are not remotely qualified for), etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.,.........

this some kind of joke?? lol

Reparations should be provided in many different forms. First would be free food. Second would be cheaper healthcare/medical costs for people without coverage. Third would be cheaper housing that should be subsidized through tax payer funding. Fourth should be putting quotas in place with all corporations that they must hire a certain amount of minorities regardless of merit or qualifications. Lastly, they should not be held accountable for their first 5 felonies and let out of jail until more serious offenses are committed. OH WAIT!!! We already have reparations but one additional reparation is they can still complain how unfair life is and claim it’s not bc they are lazy freeloaders! I have to go now because I have to report to my boss who is only in his position for one reason snd it isn’t brains. We live reparations every day.

Sorry. All the Affirmative Action , DEI…government programs such as welfare etc…..we are fricking even.

In fact…the black community owes the white community some fricking reparations.

There is no amount that will ever appease them. Giving them anything will be seen as an admission we owe them more. Welcome to reverse slavery.

350k Union troops killed and nearly 300k wounded.....reparations paid in full. Time to get on with your lives and quit blaming the enslavement of your ancestors 160 years ago for your poor decisions and failure to accept personal responsibility today.

I would agree to the reparations payment with a few conditions

1 we will pay you $300,000
2 you will renounce your United States citizenship
3. You will leave the country and will never be able to return under any circumstance and if you do you will be imprisoned and less until you repay the $300,000

Good riddance

I'd say $500k from each black person to White America should be sufficient.
Yes, reparations would actually require a payment from descendants of slaves.

Here's another way to look at it: Imagine in the 1700's, two cousins are running around Africa, and a Black slave trader catches one, and the other gets away.

Revisit this today. The average African is far worse off in Africa, than the average Black in the USA today, by just about every measure. That sure doesn't make slavery OK, it's not, it was awful. But today's Black in USA wasn't a slave, and is better off for the suffering their ancestors experienced. Would the Black in the US today really want to trade places with his cousin's descendants in Africa? I doubt it!

I have no idea what my great-great grandparents went through. They may have suffered terribly. But I'm alive today, and doing pretty well, as are my Black friends. Let's move on.

I have always said the math isn't in their favor
