Depends on how many Ice Agents it takes to subdue a male nurse.

If you anticipate personal unpleasant interactions with law enforcement? Definitely.

So let me get this straight, you’re going to a protest where you expect trouble with law-enforcement so you’re going to bring a gun.
So you expect you might get in a shootout with the police and that you are going to come out unscathed? Or are you willing to die for a protest over anything as stupid as anti-ice?
What exactly is your mindset there and what do you expect to accomplish?

In violation of the law of the state I'm in, like Pretti? No. I'd just stay home and lobby my congressman.

Got stopped for a speeding ticket near Laredo texas, and opening conversation with deputy he asked where am I going. I explained I am headed to deer lease before dark and he is welcome to inspect the vehicle but there is an unloaded rifle in the trunk. He thought? and said just a warning because I was compliant. good hunting.

I don’t go to protests because I’m an adult.
If I actually wanted to affect change I would have gone to law school and weaseled my way into a rich guy’s pocket.

Well, yes. You can’t just go up to any law enforcement officer in the middle of detaining someone an start interfering with them. And if you do it while armed, you’re basically committing suicide by cop.

Out numbering him 8:1 and disarming him.

Why were they disarming him?

I'm not condemning anyone other than those who are whining about someone getting killed.

You want to protest? Fine. Knock yourself out. You want to jump in front of ICE as they try to arrest an illegal? Again.. fine... knock yourself out. But don't come whining when you get hurt or killed.

ETA: I wish the people downvoting this would provide an answer as to why they wouldn't bring a weapon

They can't and wont. The problem is that someone shot an unarmed man in the back while the guy was overpowered 8:1. (Those same guys retreated from the dead guy with their backs INTO the crowd so they weren't concerned)

The shooting was heat of the moment and the shooter may have an out. The defenders cannot even admit that though. They have to die on this hill that the shooter was 100% right despite all evidence against them. The shooter fricked up. He read the situation wrong and it is on camera. Sorry brah, you are wrong. No need to defend him.

Right. Don't complain when you follow the laws and the government disarms and kills you.

The British government attempted to control protests against their crackdowns on smuggling, including trade with "foreign nations", as part of the Sugar Act. Protestors, also known as Patriots, brought guns to the protests, and it sometimes resulted in deadly force. Who was in the right? Then and now?

the funny part of all of this is the people who would be quick to claim they are "patriots" are really more like what the Tories were, if you equate to the history of the Revolution... they go along with what the dictator says and does, conforming to their every whim and decree...

but i don't really expect all that much critical thinking out of that group, so it's lost on them

The OP was a general question, not necessarily about current protests.

My question was a general question.

If I got to the point that I felt the need to protest a government that I believed to be tyrannical, authoritarian, adjust, evil, whatever reason, I would clearly have very little trust of that government. In that scenario, I would absolutely be armed.

Everyone in this thread immediately made this about the current protests, but the OP was a general questions, thus my response.

Not unusual to disarm someone when arresting/detaining them. Usually (like 99.999% of the time) you don't kill the disarmed person afterwards.

Good little subject. Don't question the detainment. If you question them, expect death.
