The vast majority of "flu deaths" in the USA are (a) people over 65 and (b) complications of pneumonia due to weakening of the immune system by the virus.

In fact, according to the CDC, mortality rate attributed to influenza-influenced pneumonia is over 10% in +65 age group. Flu in older people is bad, so make sure your parents and grandparents get a flu shot and avoid congested public places during flu season.

So much math fail in this thread.

I am more concerned about this issue than it appears the liberal media is currently.

Because every 4 years one of the viruses comes along and nothing happens. Remember Zika, SARS, Ebola, swine flu, dog flu, this list could go on.

I would ask why you seem to be trying to stoke fears over this thing?

There's not much anyone can do about it except try and not get sick. No sense in worrying about it.

And why aren't people "scared" of it? Maybe because we have seen many of these "we are all about to die" viruses come and go now and they didn't really amount to much. It's the boy who cried wolf at this point.

Because we’ve “survived” numerous ending-of-the-world crises like: Skylab falling to earth, contracting autism from vaccines, Y2K, SARS, Ebola, Comet Hale-Bopp, the end of the Mayan calendar, etc.

Modern news is more about scaring suburban stay-at-home moms than actually informing anyone.

Hell, I’m still trying to figure out why a virus that originated in China has a Spanish name. Lol
Also, this is a lot like the movie “Contagion”

There are already seven confirmed cases in the United States, and many more suspected

One of the cases in the US was just given an experimental drug and by the next day the symptoms had already reversed.

I wonder if this was that DRACO drug developed by MIT. A few years ago they developed a drug that should be able to cure any viral infection. It works by targeting and destroying cells that have alien RNA (this is a tell-tale sign of a viral infection because viruses create their own unique RNA).

It had been tested for a wide variety of viral infections including polio and several others and treated them all successfully.

If you’re dead, you don’t have to worry about retirement, so there’s that.

It's simple. We don't fully realize the danger of uncontrolled immigration. We let in everybody, including sick chinese, criminal illegals, and orthodox muslims. Right now down the street from my home the muslims have opened up a muslim high school. For $ 49.00 you can attend an afterschool study of the Quran. Make no mistake.....Abdullah et al will continue to make efforts to elect muslims to public office. They've already succeeded in Michigan and Minnesota. Remember this Deplorables. We (as in you and me) had better organize for the next Presidential election as in "Get out the Vote".

Also kick up the contributions to your loyal Republican candidates. We can't letup thinking DJT is a sure thing for reelection. We have to reelect President Trump AND we have to regain control of the U.S.House of Representatives, plus retain control of the Senate. Pelosi, Schumer and their goons (including Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib) will NEVER stop. You know that.

Bottom line, what these goons really want is us......and Donald Trump stands in the way. And they loathe us......ask Don Lemon and his pals at CNN.

Are you under the impression that there weren’t any Muslim public officials in the United States prior to Rep. Omar?

I'm freaked out. I've barricaded myself in my office with the computer, a flip phone and some snacks since last week.
The wife doesn't seem to care but the dogs miss me.
