I think the grosser pardon yesterday was Michael Milken, but there were so many to choose from, you really cant go wrong picking a favorite.

Criminals Pardon Criminals

He’s pulled enough time. I’ve seen armed bank robbers get 7 years to serve federally

They are different parties. Are they friends or something? Just seems odd

Because TRUMP is not like a Democrat. Democrats want to put all right wing Republicans in concentration camps and Dems believe in throwing political enemies in jail.
SANE people who aren't vindictive assholes believe in giving anybody and everybody fair justice.

From Wiki:
quote:
Upon his release from prison in 1993, Milken founded the Prostate Cancer Foundation for prostate cancer research, which by 2010 was "the largest philanthropic source of funds for research into prostate cancer".[44] Milken himself was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in the same month he was released.[45] His cancer is currently in remission. The Prostate Cancer Foundation works closely with Major League Baseball through its Home Run Challenge program to promote awareness of prostate cancer and raise money for medical research. Each season in the weeks leading up to Father's Day, Milken visits many ballparks and appears on TV and radio broadcasts during the games.
In 2003, Milken launched a Washington, D.C.-based think tank called FasterCures, which seeks greater efficiency in researching all serious diseases. Key initiatives of FasterCures are TRAIN, Partnering for Cures and the Philanthropy Advisory Service.[45]
Fortune magazine called Milken "The Man Who Changed Medicine" in a 2004 cover story on his philanthropy.[10]
In September 2012, Milken and the director of the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Francis Collins, jointly hosted 1,000 senior medical scientists, patients, activists, philanthropists, regulators, and members of Congress at a three-day conference[46] to demonstrate the return on investment in medical research.
On March 11, 2014, President Steven Knapp of George Washington University in Washington, D.C. announced the university was renaming its public health school after Milken as a result of a total of $80 million in gifts, $50 million from the Milken Institute and the Milken Family Foundation and $30 million gift from Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone. These gifts are designated to research and scholarship on public health issues.[47]

As the US Attorney who oversaw the prosecution of Michael Milken you may be surprised to know that I have recommended a pardon for him to 4 Presidents.
He has done so much for reforming education and curing cancer that it more than demonstrates he is a truly good man.

lib-pwning obviously is an aspect, but he's also trying to send a message to his guys he's not ready to pardon yet (Manafort & Stone) to hang in there & not say too much.

I don't care what the normal sentence is. Corrupt politicians should go away for life. Maybe then at least a couple politicians will think twice before selling out their office. Unless Blago can somehow help Trump take out other corrupt politicians, I cannot support this commutation.
I'm guessing you can't even name anything "corrupt" Blago did besides "trying to sell Obama's Senate seat."

Commuting a sentence =/= pardon.
Right, I think we all understand the difference after being repeatedly educated on this fine point by the legal scholars of the PT for the past 24 hours.

He did more than half his sentence (which by many accounts was excessive).
Was it though? He was selling a Senate seat, that’s pretty fricking serious. Again, I’ve seen this talking point repeated over and over by the legal minds of PT, but I’ve seen no link. Personally I’d be in favor of doubling the penalty for these types of crimes.

Trump has demonstrated he does not like what he deems unfair outcomes (especially when they appear to be politically motivated).
Doesn’t seem consistent with his mission to drain the swamp

The neat thing is, he did it all 9 months before his second election, so if you think it's all the most horrible thing in the world, you can vote accordingly.
Isn't our Constitutional Republic setup awesome?

Interesting tweet:

In succession, Obama took out two potential threats to his home base in Chicago (Blago & Jesse Jr.), then put in his own chief of staff as Mayor. (Obama might have got his ideology from Indonesia, but learned his politics in Chicago). The Blago commutation shows Trump awareness.

He didn't pardon him. He commuted his sentence. Not in the same ballpark.

As stated, he didn't pardon him... he commuted his sentence. No doubt Blago was corrupt and did some "bad" stuff, but 14 years was WAY outside the normal sentence of what people get for what he did. 8 years in federal prison was long enough and Trump did the right thing.
So justice system reform?
Posted on 2/19/20 at 9:34 am to bdavids09
It IS odd. Clearly, there’s something in it for Trump. Blagojevich is a sleaze.
