probably but it's what makes our country great
It’s insane behavior that is also a symptom or even lcause of a bunch of people being retarded irresponsible pieces of shite.
I’ve gone my whole life not doing Christmas or birthday gifts. There have been rare occasions where it was appropriate for me to either give or receive a gift, and it went well. But for the most part, nope.
And it has worked out really well.

Christmas. I hate the abbreviation Xmas.
The symbology of the Greek letter Chi (X) with Christ goes back to the earliest days of Christianity when it was an underground/illegal movement.
Don't let modern leftists try to usurp "Xmas" as some sort of non-secular abbreviation, it has deep significance in Church history.

Small government. Big Jesus.

I mean, you can celebrate Jesus’s birth without giving presents.

True.
But the reason Washington DC is a swamp because of the extremely wealthy. These same A HOLES will do anything to save a buck. They gladly welcome AI, cheap labor whenever possible.

That’s a naive position.
DC is swamp because the position attracts egomaniacs and the voters keep putting these egomaniacs into office and then make accuses for them as the consolidate more and more power.
In a few months, the American people could vote to change the entire make up of the House and 1/3 of the Senate. Instead, they will vote 90% of the current membership back in.

Would this impact affordability, inflation, etc?
Not trying to be a jerk but I'm curious, something entered your mind that prompted this OP, what was it?

The middle class getting screwed as the rich get richer. The corporations get wealthy off celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Camel through the eye of a needle.
Just an idea. I’m all for birthdays. It’s obvious though isn’t it that we are getting milked by corporate greed, especially Xmas.

Affordability. Do you think the rich give a damn about affordability? They just want your money and they will make you pay as much as possible without a revolt or people exposing them for their crap. Media just tries to keep the masses silent.
I like Trump. But I think he’s more concerned with being wealthy and his rich friends than he is about helping middle class Americans. There’s no way he would be able to operate if he was against corporate greed. But he is more honest than any other 21st century president.
If he really wanted to help America he’d tell the corporations to F off but then he would lose power.
I’d like to see somebody who believes in small government but would have the balls to not be afraid to take on corporations. I’m not talking higher taxes.

X referred to Jesus name in Greek. Abbreviation.

Didn’t realize 5 extra keystrokes was such a chore (rolling eyes).

I have always been different. During the holidays I do not spend any money whatsoever. I spend money after the holidays and take advantage of all of the discounts.

“Xmas” was a medieval abbreviation of Xpistesmaesse or Christesmaesse… literally Christ’s mass. The “X” is not a Latin script X, but rather the Greek letter “chi” that kind of looks like a Latin “X”.
Abbreviations of all words were commonplace when, to even write a simple letter to a friend, one must raise a goat, slaughter it, and convert its skin into parchment. One Bible back in those days would cost the equivalent of a million US dollars. They had to kill about 2000 goats, convert that all to parchment, pay the wages of the scribes, and bind it. It was a process.
So “Xmas” is not being disrespectful. It’s a nod to a religious tradition going back a thousand years.

Of course. Christmas spending is absolutely ridiculous and gets people needlessly in debt. Not to mention Halloween and fireworks for 4th and New Years. Seems like those than can least afford this are out spending money they cannot afford.

Christ’s vicar in my diocese says otherwise. But you do you.
