Could you as a politician survive giving up land taken over by say a border country to the US?
Is that really analogous at all, you think?

The peace agreement eventually agreed to between Ukraine and Russia will involve at least some currently occupied land being kept by Russia.
Zelensky knows this.
The Europeans know this.
As long as we get a lot of the project contracts to rebuild the Ukraine and the Russian-held territories We can use the illegal labor currently in the US as the workforce
They can get work visas in Ukraine, work for American companies, earn the points to be able to get green cards, and points toward immigration in America
If they can survive the three to five years in Ukraine without getting on the bad side of Ukrainian Nazis then they can come back here

Russia always wants land.
Why? Most of their land is poor compared to their neighbors, and the good stuff is at their borders.
They even mandated Japanese land after WW2, which was a primary reason they raced to get involved prior to Japan’s surrender.

That’s a total non sequitur. I say that because Zelensky’s survival as a politician doesn’t change the cold hard math of the battlefield situation as things stand today.
Let's be honest here, Ukraine has about as much chance of reclaiming the land it’s lost to Russia as Mexico does of reclaiming the land it lost to the US 177 years ago.
No amount of aid or money from the West will change that fact. Ukraine simply does not have the manpower necessary to retake what Russia has taken from it. Period.

For those who think Zelensky rejecting this plan is good for Ukraine, I have one question, explain to me how you think Ukraine can retake the land it’s lost to Russia by continuing the war. Lay it out. I want to know what forces they will use, etc. show us your plan.
I ask this because I’ve studied military history for 40 years and have followed this war from the start. And as I see it, there is zero chance of Ukraine achieving any of its stated war goals by means of military action. They simply lack the required manpower reserves to do it. Help me understand how you see things differently.

Your correct. And like others have posted I'm surprised there hasn't been a change in leadership for Ukraine. Z has made it clear he wants all of the lost territory returned. Is his security that good or is having billions to throw around keeping him in power.

Just do a Korean style peace.
Cease fire in place.
The West, Ukraine, and America do not recognize Russian sovereignty over any occupied Ukrainian territory including Crimea.
Sanctions continue until Russia withdraws from all territories.

Putin should tell Trump his forces will be on a ceasefire for 3 weeks while Ukraine holds an election.
Otherwise, Vlad goes deep on Kyiv

Z or his supporters would scuttle any peaceful election process and blame Russia for the death and destruction. Thus keeping the midget in power.

Zelensky rejecting the plan publicly right now is fine, but he will have to give up land. The one part I think he cannot relent on is being a part of NATO or some other major partnership with a Europe. NATO membership would bring the US into a war if they get attacked again which is terrible for us, but maybe a partnership with Western Europe would be sufficient. Without some security agreement, nothing stops Russia from doing this again in 10-15 years.

Putin continues to miss the point.
This is ironic. A lot of western countries might be missing one of his points.
Crimea wasn’t part of Ukraine until Khrushchev gave it to Ukraine when he was head of the Soviet Union. It was all under the same house at the time and not considered as big of a deal. When Putin claims it’s part of Russia, it was until 1954.
The history goes back even further over that land and between the nations. We like to think about this through our western lens, but there’s a lot more to this conflict than simple border wars.

1. By getting NATO to fight with them. This war would not have happened if NATO had bombed that Russian convoy when it entered. We should be fighting next to our Ukranian friends and should have from the start.
OR,...option two...
2. At some point Russia won't be able to go on either. Why the hell do you think they are using North Korean soldiers? Iranian armaments (not exactly the best made stuff)?
At some point the mothers and wives of the dead soldiers will get together and start trying to stop Putin.

Considering Russian President Vladimir Putin was only using the 50-day deadline as an excuse to unleash more destruction on Ukraine, President Trump is right to shorten it to a little over a week.
Trump is also correct that, if Putin doesn’t agree to peace, sanctions can deal as strong a blow against Russia as missiles.
Despite the claims of Russia apologists, the war is bringing the country to its knees. Signs point to an economic catastrophe in the next 12 to 18 months.
Even senior Russian officials are issuing stark warnings. Russia’s Minister for Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov recently warned that Russia faces recession.
But the reality is far worse. With the official inflation rate above 10% per year and the real inflation rate double that, prices of basic goods like potatoes, a staple for Russian families, are up three to four times since the Russian invasion in February 2022.
Government spending on defense is officially over 40% of the national budget and in reality more like 50% — crowding out on education, infrastructure and health care.
Government tax revenues are falling due primarily to lower prices for Russian oil and natural gas, as well as the widespread destruction of key infrastructure such as refineries by Ukrainian drones.
Russia’s National Wealth Fund, which has been used to help underwrite the war, is estimated to have fallen from over $110 billion in early 2022 to just over $30 billion today. Swedish economist Anders Aslund, a former fellow at the Atlantic Council, believes the fund will be out of money by year’s end.

Maybe, but that’s a far cry from whenever the US agrees Putin will kill Z in 48 hours.
Anyway, I doubt Z gets killed when this ends. It will probably end with a sanctuary deal for Z and his war cabinet. They will probably end up in the US somewhere with secret service protection (hopefully not that fat chick from the PA rally).
