"Do I know the players? Yeah, I do know the players. Do I know the league? Yeah, I do know the league"

"Would I want to be a manager at any level? Yes, of course," Henry said. "That is one of the things that I would like to do."

Unless we already have something in the works with a notable club manager, we'd be stupid not to hire him.

Why? It seems he's had pretty minimal head coaching experience at a high level...fired within a year at Monaco and was head coach for an MLS team for a year. You think he may be our best option?

Clout, recruiting purposes, knowledge of the BS soccer politics in the country and having coached at the international level under Roberto.

I did qualify it by saying if we don't have something lined up with a current club manager overseas. If we assume Jesse is in the running for this, Henry has more international experience both playing and coaching.

So you want to hire a guy because he has clout? His coaching record is balls.

So is Jesse's. And yes, clout does matter for the international game since it's more about recruiting and maintaining than it is about tactics.

Yeah, we shouldn’t hire him either.

How about we hire a coach that’s good at coaching?

I think Henry can be good at coaching.

ETA: And again, this is all contingent on if we don't have something lined up with a club manager overseas. I'd take Henry over a Jesse or a Vermes.

Please no. We should not settle for a coach. We have a great player pool. And host the world cup. Kinsman to run USSF and if we settle. I hope we settle on Löw. Or someone with at least a winning record

I’d much rather have Marsch, between he and Henry.

At least Marsch would have instant chemistry and connection with the roster, and he would do no worse than Henry.

Let me qualify that way saying we should avoid both like the plague and make a hire that says we want to challenge for the WC Title, even if it is shooting above our horizon a bit.

aesthetically I would prefer an American coach, but this far out in a cycle where we don’t have to qualify, does chemistry really matter? whether it’s Henry, Mourinho, or some frick, the sooner the hire gets made the sooner that chemistry can be instilled

Players get cap tied. Managers come and go. If he can secure Balogun or any competent #9, you hire him. If he doesn't work out you replace him.
