ccording to a report by ESPN's Mauricio Pedroza, directives of Queretaro Gallos and the Liga MX might be withholding information to exhume responsibilities from the incident at the La Corregidora Stadium during last night's game between Queretaro and Atlas.

According to Pedroza, a member of the team's directive that preferred to remain anonymous said that "If deaths are reported in or around the stadium, there is a criminal-civil liability for the team and the league. If they are reported dead, they will say they died in the hospital."

What control does the Mexican Federation have over Liga MX?

Between this, their repeated homophobic slur violations, and the throwing of items that hit players (even their own), I’d say this adds up to some kind of lack of institutional control.

Allegedly security is actually a thing at Azteca but 0 chance I would be there as an American, especially since we can realistically take points from them.

US Soccer should push hard to get that game moved.

Pretty solid article about the incident Saturday, LigaMX violence, and Mexico in general. Scary how some of it can be applied to places in the US too.

State media flat out lying, probably because the number is much higher than 17. Hercules Gomez just called them out on it. Queretaro engaged in a massive cover-up to hide their incompetence and brutality.

There is endless video footage and not a single person has been arrested over 48 hours later

If families of victims have to take justice into their own hands I can’t even pretend I’d be bothered by in-kind retribution to the authorities / government

I don’t see how you let Mexico co-host the WC in 2026 after this. Unless it’s up to the same corrupt organization that sold WC’s to Russian and Qatar.

The amount of Mexican fans on twitter trying to make excuses for this and comparing it to things in America is fricking wild.

I guess the “never my fault” mentality isn’t limited to the US. Even more reason for the international community to hammer Mexico for this. They have a shite culture and are taking no responsibility to prevent this from happening again. When you sweep something like this under the rug, you basically say it is acceptable. It will happen again.

Mexico is basically a failed narco state run by organized criminals at this point so it’s hard to expect people there to give a shite about real change. Sweeping this under the rug is scary. Imagine the response if something similar happened in the US.

Team got a slap in the wrist—no fans, team must be sold, but still allowed to play and authorities still allowed to cover up the massacre. So it will probably happen again. How do they expect to host a World Cup?
