Outside of it looking similar to Birmingham's, it's not that bad.

I don't have a problem with the badge. Looks clean. I like it.

Don't like "Grow the legend." Seems dumb and don't see it catching on.

it's a clean design, and would be great for a tree nursery. I just don't know what it has to do with Austin. Sure austin has oak trees, but I can't imagine if you asked someone what represents Austin a tree would be on anyones top 5 list. then again, it would be difficult to incorporate tacos, bbq or hipsters into a logo.

however, there are a lot of sport mascots/logos/team names that don't have anything to do with the home city, so it's not a big deal. my initial impression was that it was just kind of silly. i don't know...maybe it will grow on me...(dyswidt)

The logo is Treaty Oak in downtown. It is the last surviving tree of the council oaks. 14 trees that served as sacred meeting for Comanche and Tonkawa tribes. The tree is estimated to be at least 500 years old.

Poser austinites like SUB wouldn’t know

I think between FC and Austin Athletic I think I like the latter better.

Having Oak trees with "Grow the Legend" is a bit silly and I agree won't catch on.

The Oak trees themselves don't bother me, outside of wondering what better badge ideas were out there.

I don't see this being anywhere near a success. Not sure why MLS (with all of its absurd control) allowed this to pass through.

You must not know Texas then. Austin is the California of Texas. There’s no place in the state with more hipster liberal douchebags who want to tell you how great soccer is.

And that’s a audience they need to target, not going after the Mexicans. Anyone from Mexico supports Mexican teams and couldn’t give a rats arse about MLS.

None of that really matters. There are some common characteristics of successful teams in MLS. Good demographics doesn't equal success. In reality, there's only one team in California that has great support and it's LAFC which is a product of their newness.

But I agree that teams who try to make their Hispanic populations care more about this new team over their childhood club is delusional. Houston is stuck in this state of pretty bad support because they have a decent hardcore group of fans, and very few otherwise. FC Dallas has always had terrible support.

The two other teams in Texas barely draw and Austin has already had failed teams

Once the novelty is gone the hipsters will find something new and this franchise will be an afterthought once Texas football starts

Well, yeah. It's in Frisco and it's outdoors.
