we have more depth than Mexico.
Which is exactly why I think Acosta should start at the 6.
It also helps that for whatever reason, he becomes a world class player when he plays Mexico.

I’m not even necessarily against starting Acosta, moreso the general attitude of this game not being as important as the game against Panama
I know circumstances etc etc but I think it would do a lot for the federation to stick a fat middle finger in the Mexicans faces, along with essentially clinching

I would love nothing more than to cap off our recent dominance over Mexico with our first win at the Azteca, but I think it's too high of risk to full-on "go for it" when the next match is more important in terms of the ultimate goal. I don't want to put our best XI in that altitude only to maybe lose and then be kinda of depleted heading into Panama.
Doesn't have to be all new XI like we stupidly did on the road at Panama, but we just need to be smart with a few players.

My dad and I have been to some games together so he will try to keep up with the team to an extent. Always psyched to get a text from him about an upcoming game.

Was talking to my Mexican coworkers today and they think it will be a draw. At no point have I heard them ever say anything other than they will destroy us. Morale is at an all time low south of the border.

I love hearing this tbh.

then it’s time to squash it like the cockroach they are.
btw Cwill, I got a similar text from my dad, moreso bitching about the game kicking off at 8. that’s around his bedtime

Ha. We went to the 2011 Gold cup semis and finals together. Semis were fun. Finals were fun until someone got injured and Borstein came on and we got torched for 4 goals. Tbh Dos Santos’ floated goal above Howard is second only to Bradley’s goal in terms of all time greats in the series imo. So glad that dude never reached his full potential.

Will the game be on CBS or CBSSN? I only see that it will be streaming on Paramount+ but I know that has to be some bullshite. It’s US-Mexico… has to be on tv.

Who besides Adams should we be careful with if we go that route?

I’ve changed my mind and I want Adams to start against Mexico.
We need our best defensive midfielder on the field if we want a result at Azteca. Against Panama we will be playing against a presumably bunkering opponent and Acosta’s free kicks give us some added oomph. If Adams doesn’t get carded against Mexico we could possibly use him against Panama if needed. If he gets yellow carded against Mexico he would be back for the Costa Rica game, in case we needed a result.
I too have changed my mind but not because I think Panama will be bunkering. In fact, I think the opposite given Panama has held possession >50% in all of their matches except against Mexico and the US.
Instead, playing Adams in the first match against Mexico guarantees he plays two matches this window. If you sit him against Mexico, you risk he only plays one match this window.

frick it, this is our last meaningful match with Mexico (unless we play them in the World Cup) until like 2030.
Let's beat these assholes.

Who should be in the middle of our best front 3? It seems obvious that Pulisic and Reyna are on the left and right. So...Pepi? I'm not 100% sold on him but I don't know who else do you put there that is better?
Let's pray none of those 3 get hurt before WC.

On top of that what is our first choice starting lineup if everybody is available?
