I would say our best hope for 2026 is to get destroyed in the Copa America so badly that a change is required, but this federation would then hire a search firm and a year later announce Arena (or Berhalter)
It’s also time to stop letting Cindy Parlow coast because she’s a beloved former player. She has done nothing to prove any less useless than Cordiero

Is pulisic such a fan of Greggg because of Gregg and Gio’s poor relationship. And Gio is a threat to Pulisic being numero uno lone superstar?

Pulisic might think Gregg is pure shite but if the decision to hire him has been made then public support is what a leader does
I doubt he and Gio are that petty, that’s absurd

quote:Generational talent and depth in this squad and US soccer chooses a mediocre, divisive coach to take them into the 2026 World Cup cycle. Fact: Jesse Marsch was ready and highly capable of leading this squad on a potentially historic run. Instead, another likely clusterfrick.
Imagine what those same players could do with a better coach.

Jesse Marsch is not some elite coach. He failed miserably at Leeds.

Gregg is a players’ coach…so yeah, the players like him. He’s the Les Miles of US Soccer - a good coach but not one that will get us where we need to be with the talent we have. We’ve seen his ceiling. It’s just disappointing to know that we are heading into probably the best opportunity ever to go far in a World Cup with our talent and it being at home and will have to do it with a sack of bricks weighing us down.

Yeah, and we are still one injury to Gio, Pulisic, or Adams away from being mediocre on any given day.
Comments like these show a general disconnect between fans’ perception of our talent level and our actual talent level.
Acting like Marsch is some world beater who would lead us to a “historic run” is just laughable.

Jesse is Gregg with a better PR agent

Remember when people here wanted Tata and thought he would consistently kick Gregg’s arse? Pepperidge farm remembers.
Also, it’s a bizarro world we live in when LLL Tri fans want our coach more than our own fans do.

One el tri rando on twitter fawning over Gregg means their fans want him more than ours do?

El Tri is in the mud and desperate for something better. Just enjoy the moment baw.

I’m enjoying it for sure. But not pretending that they want Gregg based on some nobody on twitter’s opinion.

I think Jesse would be better than Gregg, but I think the program has improved under GGG.
Will he win the World Cup? Unlikely. There’s hundreds of losers

Do you not think El Tri fans would have preferred Gregg over Tata? They probably prefer Gregg over their current streak of loser managers.

We won’t get Klopp but make him tell us no.
Outside of that, certainly Crocker has connections in the FA/Europe scene.
Just please let us have more imagination than the safe and controllable MLS hire. But my faith is not in the USSF doing such if they were willing to put up with Gregg for so long.

The Doug McIntyre update is deflating.

Obviously I’d take being in the semifinals of the Copa America, but if we were in a group where two teams we played had red cards for a good portion of the game, and then beat a pretty mediocre Venezuela team in PKs people would not be praising GGG the way they’re praising Marsch.

His report with @JimmyConrad confirms 1) US Soccer hasn't made a final decision on Gregg. That happens Monday. 2) They probably will reach out to Klopp. 3) More likely, be ready to embrace Steve Cherundolo as the new coach.
