Switch your backs. Turner starts because we need his shot stopping against Mexico. Pulisic isn’t ready to start so I would go with Aaronson and bring Pulisic off the bench for the last 30 minutes.

Agreed but this just points out even more why it was a mistake to not bring Scally last camp. He should have already been integrated and up to speed with the MNT. Now we may be forced to throw him right into the fire with Dest out

I agree. I bet my left nut that Yedlin and Jedi start. If either of those guys get injured then ooph. It’s a hard ask to start Scally against Mexico in his first senior national team game. Both vines and cannon are out of form and I think will get torched by Mexico’s wingers.

Here is Sciaretta’s write up. LINK

This is his predicted lineup:

Steffen
Yedlin Richards Robinson Jedi
McKennie Adams Busio
Aaronson Pepi Pulisic

I personally prefer Musah to Busio but Sciaretta seems to be concerned about him defensively. I think the same can be said for Busio tbh, especially with his lack of physicality against Mexico.

I agree it will be Yedlin, but on the other hand the kid is playing in the Bundesliga against some of the best in the world, players that would easily be in MX's best 11. It's in the US not MX, at this point YOLO, throw him into the deep end.

Leaving Brooks out of the call-ups is the most cocky, dumbass move I have seen a US coach make in a while, and we have had some cocky bastards recently.

Has he mentioned why he left Brooks out in any interviews yet? I assume Brooks statement is what Gregggggggg told him. The contradictions between evaluating players would be laughable if it wasn't for the fact we're trying not to miss another WC.

Nothing will ever top subbing on Lovitz when down a goal in the 80 something minute of the gold cup final lol

Didn't we sub off Pulisic for him too?

Or was that the Canada nations league match?

I just remember we subbed off Pulisic for Lovitz in a non-friendly match and me being dumbfounded that it was even an option, let alone the option he chose.

Compared to McKenzie, Brooks has been like the best CB ever. Seriously, have you ever watched McKenzie play for the USMNT? He’s arse and he should be no where near the starting lineup.

McKenzie was better than Brooks at Honduras back in September.

With that said, Brooks at his best can be the best player on the pitch. Dumb to leave him off.

He said form, but that doesn't make much sense because what changed now from October when Brooks was called in but didn't make the camp because of injury?

The roster construction is really weird, especially at forward with Pepi the only true #9 called in.

I didn’t even notice Reggie cannon on the roster. I get they don’t play the same position, but any rationale for omitting a guy like Brooks is gone when you admit a guy like Reggie cannon. Cannon has played 100 minutes total this season for a bad Portugal team.

Pretty sure Cannon is only there because Dest got hurt.

I think I’m just perpetually aghast at the reality of our FB depth. This roster in particular is thin pretty much everywhere.

Honestly though, has there ever been a time where we’ve had “depth?” We are perpetually an injury or two away from falling apart.

We've learned over these last two windows that our depth is shite.

We literally have no one who can adequately play the #6 role consistently behind Adams. Like we have fans right now who are pissed that Lletget is on the roster (rightfully so) but there answers to replace him are Julian Green and Luca De La Torre. Sure it'd be nice to see some new blood, but those two names don't exactly excite.

We're deep at CB and on the wing and our first choice XI is the most talented we've ever had by far, but after that, there is a huge drop off at a lot of positions.

Really need four points here. Six is not impossible. Canada is going to clean up in their two matches in the Arctic. Need to stay ahead of Panama to avoid the play-in game.
