I’m guessing they’ll be forced to forfeit since Poland, Czech and Sweden all said they will not play against Russia. Poland was supposed to travel to Moscow for a WCQ on March 24. Does Poland get a pass to play Sweden/Czech winner for spot in WC? Would be more fair if they just moved the game.

Should just have Poland, Czech, and Sweden do a round robin or sorts.

Though FIFA will cash the Russian check and give them a free pass into the world cup since the other 3 teams "forfeited"

None but they’re going to have to double or triple their usual bribe money

Yugoslavia was banned from Euro 1992 due to war. Their replacement, Denmark, won the whole damn thing.

Yeah pretty much.

But Russia already shite the bed against Croatia when an automatic berth was on the line. A path to the WC seemed unlikely even before this past week.

FIFA/IOC...difficult to ascertain which 'organization' is more CORRUPT ! The current FIFA director is best buds with Putin...no wonder he wants to go soft on the ruskies...like in most things, IF there are 'shady' goings on....follow the $ ! Here's hoping UEFA bands together and ALL refuse to participate vs. the russians. I think England has already said so and waiting on my Germans to do the same...cutting FIFA off at the knees, once and for all !

General consensus tonight is FIFA will throw Poland out of World Cup qualifying rather than risk losing Putin's love, Gazprom's money and all the other dirty dealings with Russia.
So @FIFAcom ball is in your court.
International football will NEVER recover IMO if you do that.

Putin should've just waited to invade Ukraine until January 2023.

Yep. Just saw that FIFA has officially banned the Russian men's and women's teams until further notice. Not sure if that means Poland just advance to the next round of WCQ.

Poland would've won anyway.

But they should have a mini tournament of the next 4 best teams from qualification for a chance to play Poland and continue progressing.

From a quick look of it, Norway, Finland, Albania, and Romania fit this mold.

I didn't think Fifa would have the stones to do it. Especially with how Russia bought their world cup.

Agree....did not think FIFA would submit to the UEFA 'pressure' so soon....i.e. given the mega-bucks bribery to the FIFA chairman and his cozy 'relationship' with Putin ! At any rate, I'm pleasantly surprised that the UEFA led 'outrage' has resulted in the well deserved OUSTER of russian soccer...next SHOULD be the olympic banishment along with ALL other sports ! russia is a-hole !
