Luka Modric is the real LM10

I am enjoying watching Modric as much as I did when Pirlo was out there for Italy. When the ball gets to his feet, I expect something magical each time.

To be fair, Argentina almost won the last World Cup and Messi was the player of the tournament.

I root against Argentina since maradona's kick to balls after loss was certain in world cup.

Iceland was an unexpected delight. I expected Croatia to give them all they could eat.

This is because Ronaldo demands the ball.

Messi is too much of a beta personality to do so. He likes to spread it around and not be selfish when that is probably the worst thing possible for the team.

Both players have had to change as they aged. Ronaldo is more a wide forward than he's ever been and he relies exclusively on service. Messi has become a playmaker in addition to becoming a goalscorer. His passing this past season has been unreal.

Messi apparently told Alexis Sanchez to stop dribbling so much and give him the ball, which may or may not have made Sanchez cry. What I'm saying is that maybe it isn't a function of the personality and rather they way each play the game, which is very different from one another.

I think it's people tired of fans downing Ronaldo all of the time when Messi can't show up on the international stage.
this. I like Messi a lot, but for me Ronaldo will always be better simply because he demands himself and the others around him to perform at their very best.
I got so sick of the CR7 hate a few years ago saying he’s selfish, an arrogant prick, no where near Messi’s level, etc. but now Ronaldo is 33 and still destroying records when Messi hasn’t done shite in the UCL for 3 years, storms off like a little bitch when he loses, and just has an awful attitude about things now. If I remember correctly, he said that “football owes him a World Cup”, right? Well, no, football doesn’t owe anyone a damn thing. Can you imagine the backlash if Ronaldo said some shite like that??

Well, CR7 demands more of Portugal. Messi doesn’t really have that same alpha personality

I love Messi, but I think that’s a valid criticism.

If he doesn’t step up and change things in the next match and knockout round, the debate will be over.

I’ll always appreciate Messi’s transcendent talent, though.

There wouldn't be much backlash because Ronaldo has been saying stuff like that his entire career. There is backlash when Messi says it because people don't expect it no?

Croatia is in good form but if Iceland can grab a win tomorrow, I think a draw is in reach on Tuesday. They went through Croatia in qualifying, after all

I didn’t get to watch the first half but based on the second half, I went from a neutral to hoping Iceland gets the second spot and Argentina goes home in shame. Otamnedi should have gotten a red for his foul on Rakitic.

Rakitic was amazing in the second half. I’m glad he got to record a goal.

That was a very dirty foul and completely deserving of a red to me.

One of the biggest wins I have seen from Croatia in some time. Great team play and passion. I am one proud Croatian. Also technically half Serb, so hoping for a win tomorrow as well.
