Sucks for Leeds. Adams had a relegation clause equal to his initial purchase so they made $0 from the acquisition/sale of a player who saw his stock increase while there.
I am here to bring some hope. Although Fab is normally spot on. If I understand correctly Caicedo only wants to go to Chelsea and Adams was an incase that deal does not happen. Supposedly if Caicedo goes to Chelsea, Adams winds up at Brighton.

Chelsea are prepared to leave talks for Adams despite medical tests already done. Documents were not signed yet.

Further clarification. It appears Brighton basically told Chelsea if they wanted Caicedo they needed to end the pursuit of Adams so they could sign him.
