Money is also tighter for people these days. And the instagram era has younger people prioritizing travel to places like national parks instead

Vegas was never the same after covid. I missed the buffets.

Someone from out there told me that the overall handle has held up. Don’t know if that’s accurate. Yes, the amenities have gotten very expensive, especially at the higher end places. This is clearly a deliberate strategy by many of the operators. Going for a higher end clientele I guess.
Does it still have the appeal? Guess that depends. There’s a lot out there. Pro sports, shows, great restaurants and a lot of neat outdoor stuff.

I’m here now. Been here since Christmas Day. It’s really crowded. I’ve seen it more crowded this time of year, but don’t let anyone tell you it’s a ghost town. I don’t and have never been a big gambler. I come here to eat and see shows and concerts. So far on this trip I e eaten at Herbs & Rye, Peter Luger’s, Golden Steer, and Secret Pizza among other places. Have seen two shows and The Wizard of Oz @ The Sphere. Going to see the MJ Live (Michael Jackson tribute) tonight. Went downtown Saturday and it was jam packed. Watched some of the LSU game at Circa.
The reports of Las Vegas’ demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Vegas for most blue collar people is an excuse to "forget" a lot of things and blow budgets. For most of them, it's the only time they're going to travel by air for vacation for years on end. They're never going to be in Venice, so they think the Venetian is an experience.
There is great white tablecloth food in IAH, DFW, NYC, ORD, and more, with plenty of entertainment options domestically.
Not trying to shite on you, but you bragged about seeing a tribute band in one of the most expensive entertainment cities in the US. I'm sure they're good, but tribute bands are $12 a ticket affairs, not Vegas prices.

Nah dude lol. I’ve lived in both Houston and Dallas, and to act like they’re total vacation upgrades over Vegas is a bit naive. Vegas schools anything the big cities in TX have to offer.
What’s killing Vegas is it’s inability to compete with the East and West coast cities. Those cities get way more tourism money due to the fact that they have entertainment industries that can match the GDP’s of their non-entertainment sectors.

I get what you are trying to say, but seeing a full Vegas production like “MJ Live” is a completely different experience than seeing The Atomic Punks (Van Halen) or the Molly Ringwalds (80s) at L’Auberge or Chelsea’s.
And last time I saw the Ringwalds ( pre-covid) it was $20.

You can get this at the Gaylord Texan in DFW and just gamble on your phone
No fanduel or draftkings in TX

How was it? Is it worth a trip 2 Vegas just for that ?

I'm disappointed they destroyed the Mirage for that monstrosity that is going up. The guitar that is going up is going to be ugly as shite on the strip.
The mirage was a great mid-tier hotel.

It was absolutely amazing. It’s almost an entirely different movie. However, I think the cuts and additions make it a better movie. It’s a lot tighter, and comes in at a quick 1:20 or so. The effects, visuals, and sounds are just over the top.

I would say no. You need to have something else to do.

I love these threads by people who only know The Strip and are too ignorant to do anything else. There is world class food and entertainment. Hiking at Red Rock and Mt Charleston, Valley of Fire State Park is an hour away, you can hike/bike/walk/swim at Lake Mead, go to Summerlin, etc. So, in sum, great food, great entertainment, great outdoor life, gambling if you like it, what more do people want? Go stay at Red Rock or Durango and try something new if you dont like The Strip.

Was there for 5 days in 2024, unless something changes, that’s my last trip.

Vegas is still a good food city. I went recently and had the best Beef Wellington. Another great stop was at Jose Andres’ Jaleo.
Investors are constantly attempting upgrades to the spectacle of this unique city and I can’t wait to go back once the A’s have their new ballpark and the surrounding entertainment district completed.
I don’t gamble. But it’s one of the best cities for everything else.

It's a great place to fly into to visit, Zion, Bryce Canyon, North Rim etc.
The Hoover Dam tour was interesting in spite of the tour guide.
Otherwise I'd never go there.
Reno is worse, what a shite hole.

Wife and I were there in June. We went to Herbs and Rye to check out the happy hour steaks. The place was packed with locals and the steaks were as good as any I’ve had in LV for $35. We will be going back.

Yup, was easy as shite to get in and out of and if you had Mlife, you could often get rooms for sub $50 most of the year.
Bellagio is pain in the arse to get from room out to strip, Caesars is a little better, MGM is fricking horrible.

I saw it a couple months ago and loved it too. I went in with below average expectations and very surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
