People fly in from all over the globe to visit Las Vegas. That town is packed full of people every day of the year, so I would say yes it still has the appeal that it once had. What indications do you have that it does not?
I've been going to Vegas 2-3x per year for over 15 years now (not counting covid years). It's not dead but there has definitely been a downturn. I was there this past March, May and October. Every uber/lyft driver, dealers etc talk about how slower it is.
I think on the higher end of guests; revenue is same if not up. I stay at Aria/Cosmo and still busy as usual from what I saw.
It's the lower to mid end that's hurting. First time I've ever seen a casino CEO apologize:

Small bump...
Saw Vegas released most recent numbers and visitor count is down 5% however revenue is up like 3%.... Vegas missed December YOY by something like 175k visitors.
The discussion was around a shift from everyday people to big money gamblers these days.

We are going in June for Kenny Chesney at the Sphere. Taking wife, 13 yr old daughter and my in laws. Trying to figure out where to stay. Would prefer a resort but don’t want to have hassle after show trying to get back

The Wynn/Encore are very close to the Sphere. Can’t go wrong with those, although they are located at the north end of the strip.

Venetian and Wynn are the two closest and most walkable resorts to the Sphere. I would start with those two.

The higher end is still holding their own, it's the middle to lower takes that are hurting. An hour & a half south of Vegas on the Colorado river is Laughlin. They are doing fine, maybe the people can't afford all the fees and ad ons in Vegas.

I agree with everything you said about Laughlin and the fees in Vegas. I would like to add that Laughlin isn’t a place that people outright pick for vacation. I went to Laughlin last March. The crowd in Laughlin is locals and people within driving distance. The other part of the crowd are people flown in by Caesars Rewards to Harrah’s and the Tropicana. The Riverside Casino also flies guest in. The airport near Laughlin isn’t public and only services charter flights. I was there through Caesar’s Rewards and I got flight and 4 days 3 nights at Harrah’s including flight round trip from Baton Rouge for $50. Different times of the year it’s different prices. I’m not a big gambler with Caesars. It is something to look into. Just fair warning, Laughlin is the “Great Value” version of the Las Vegas strip.

As others have said, you want the Venetian or the Wynn if convenience is important to you. Both are very nice and have everything you need on property. Harrahs and Link are the closest “value” properties that are still close.

I never understood the draw unless you want to gamble and are planning on getting rooms comp'd.
For the money, hassle, and nickel and diming you're going to be in for, there's better desert locations to go to. My favorite part of visiting Vegas was seeing the Hoover Dam.

The clientele from the LA area really turned me off last time I went. I don’t really want to pay money for a vacation and hang out with gang members.

I went to the Sphere a few months ago to see Wizard of Oz. Rideshare is now setup pretty efficiently in dropping people off and picking up. I was staying at Cosmo and think we made it back after the show in under 15 mins.

Thanks, we have stayed at the Venetian before and wife was wanting to stay at the Cosmo for some reason. I'm leaning toward the Wynn but might do Cosmo if rideshare works this well.

Crowded as ever…….

Vegas was better when the Mafia had control over it.

We just came back from Vegas a couple of weeks ago.
Busy.. and cold as fu$%
We use it to do stuff you just can't do else where.
Sphere - Wizard of Oz was amazing
Arte Museum - solid 2 hr experience
A couple of fancy dinners - Vanderpump was disappointing, Paris was awesome
Speed Vegas - 488 Ferrari - excellent
Day trip to Zion - Outstanding
Fremont St hanging out and zip-lining - excellent
Our strategy... have a plan... execute and have fun....
Yeah.... costs are exorbitant... budget for it
Does it have appeal? For us, yes.

Been three times
The first was to see Aerosmith open their Residency, did mostly Tourist things, it was fun
Second was my brother's bachelor party, the day we landed is when the world shut down for Covid, on strip sucked off strip was fun, we found the best sushi i have ever had. It seemed off strip was a little laxer with the covid rules at that time. Casinos were horrible 2 people at a table was nice but kills the roulette and craps vibes. Blackjack was hard to get a seat, sports were nonexistent so gambling was tough. Reservations were cancelled etc. I attribute all of this to the fact that people did not know what to expect with the new epidemic.
The third time was for a company sales trip, it was during the Formula one time trials. Lots of money everywhere the casino bars were parties. it felt like a 3 day bender, and i was literally exhausted on the plane ride back

The first year Sphere opened, they didn't have rideshare setup like now. They dropped you off away from Sphere and there was no dedicated pickup area. I still remembering having to walk 20-30 mins to one of the hotels to get a ride. Also it didn't help that I was there the week before the first F1 race and construction was a nightmare.
Now they drop you off and pick you up right in front of Sphere.

The numbers tell a different story... Hotel occupancy for 2025 was 80.3% which was a 7.5% decrease over 2024 and I've seen numbers for 2026 coming in at 76.1% so far.
Gambling is flat, but visitors down big.
