Which do you recommend for a quick day trip from Magnolia?

Looking at Surfside, Bolivar Crystal Beach or maybe Matagorda.

Which out of these is the least crowded, cleanest and is the best overall maintained? I am aware that the water is not likely to be very nice and the sand isn’t powder sand like the beaches east of Mobile.

We go to Surfside a few times a year with the kids and they enjoy it. There will be quite a few people there but we never felt like anyone was on top of us and had space to set up a tent and relax.

I went to surfside on a Friday last June. Was pretty much empty and you can drive on the beach. we popped up a tent between two cars and had a nice day with the kids.

+1 to Surfside. Prefer taking the extra time for it when I head down there.

Surfside. It's the best of the worst options for beaches in Texas that are close to Houston.

Rockport or Port Aransas are less shitty than Galveston.

Padre for a weekend trip I guess if you are that hard up for a beach in Texas.

You motherfrickers are missing my damn point. I said a simple day trip. You know what that means? Let me break it down.

I pull out of my driveway. Go to this location. Drive back and sleep in my own bed. Rocket science or reading comprehension?

Not a day trip. You know, sometimes the kids just want to play at a beach. They don't care if the sand is brown or white. You're talking a 3-4 hour drive and then paying for a place to stay. Not the same thing at all...but you knew that.
