ATL is widely considered close to the top on mega airports. It'll never contend with nice, smaller, regional airports, but for a massive sprawling thing it's solid.

For the busiest airport in the world, it's very efficient. The layout is great and yeah, sometimes TSA sucks, but you're going to get that at pretty much every airport.

MIA, and LAX are all much worse.

I'll be at MIA in a few weeks, what's the deal with it?

Came in from Europe last night. Have traveled extensively over the years for work and flown through ATL as well.

I think there are worse by far. O'Hare, LAX or JFK among others.

The tram system at ATL is pretty efficient. Not as many affinity lounges if you have to stay over and aren't a member of something like the Crown Room.

I will say I was shocked at the number of people flying out at 10pm on a Sunday. Wall to wall people.

Traffic and TSA were a shite show there when I lived in Georgia

Blows my mind why anybody would not take MARTA if flying, unless you're running late as shite. Park at a marta station and pay $5/day for parking and a $2.50 train ticket that drops you off directly into the airport with zero concersn for traffic. Opposed to fighting typicaly atlanta traffic and paying $18/day to park there.

Unless you live in Cherokee or Cobb or nowhere near a Marta line and opt to use the Parking Spot or other for under $10/day.

True. I’d take Marta if it made sense. Takes me at least 45 minutes to drive to a Marta station. Then an hour ride to the airport.
Hour and 15 to drive to the airport.
Stinks but that’s the way it is.

LAX is by far the worst and it's not close

People who say ATL is bad probably don't fly or get around much

ATL’s plane train immediately puts it above all the airports with busses that you have to take in between terminals. For its size ATL is pretty quick to get around.

Just say what you really want to say, don’t be a scared punk.

Objectively, ORD and LaGuardia are easily bottom 5 major US airports.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with ATL.

No US airports have anything on many of the major airports I’ve traveled to overseas.

if you are complaining about eating spots closing early dont think of flying into PHO.. ATL is like a dam mall compared to most airports.

ATL is my home airport and it’s pretty easy to navigate. I also drive there on I-85 North, so the traffic isn’t too bad.

On the flip side, as far as good airports go, I’m a fan of Istanbul. I have been through there a few times with Turkish Airlines and it’s very nice.

I generally stay away from JFK, LAX and ATL.

My preferred US international airports are MSP and DTW.

I get the serious case of red arse every time I fly through JFK.

Atlanta is one of the nicest airports. I’ll be there in about an hour.

I’ve probably spent cumulative about a week of my life in that airport.

It’s fantastic. The plane train is great. Easy set up. No nonsense. The international terminal is phenomenal.

Detroit is a great airport too.

Honestly one of my least favorite airports is Charlotte. The walking areas feel like an overcrowded mall food court. Dirty. Loud. Overcrowded. No amenities.

Then the actual gate areas have little seating area. Gross carpet. No personal space. It’s terrible.

Yeah op really just proves that he's only been to probably 1 other airport in his life and is scared of lots of people or reading sign directions. For an airport of its size and traffic ATL is remarkably efficient. Claiming it may be the worst in America borders on retardation.

Entering the US in Atlanta is a very horrible experience

Never had a problem with Atlanta domesticaly but I agree entering from outside the US is not any better at LAX either and going through international security/customs all over the world are just as bad. Going through airport security and customs are a horrible experience period.

I will back you up on CLT. On the surface, everything is great. Spacious in the main concourse, rocking chairs, lots of windows, etc. However when you're there on a busy day it is absolute hell.

If you land in Terminal E (very common if you're from a smaller city like Birmingham), you have to walk over half a mile to get to your next gate. You quickly realize there are virtually no restaurants outside of the ones in the main concourse which, given the traffic of the airport, is always packed. There are more food options in a single ATL terminal than the entirety of CLT

Terminal C is an absolute clusterfrick. There are 6 gates at the end of Terminal C and every flights was leaving around the same time so there were hundreds of people in a very small area. D appears to be the same way (I only use AA maybe every three years, idk).

Also, I hate the bathroom attendants. It is weird.

ATL is a great airport overall when compared to other American airports of similar size. DTW is probably my favorite in US though

I used to fly in and out of there several times a year. MCI is almost comical it’s so bad

Kansas City airport is undefeated in being awful. They will never be topped. But I do hate ATL just as much as OP.
