If you order a Guinness anywhere please don't touch the glass until it has settled, you will see it. We met some locals that we hung out with for a few days hitting some local Pubs, they said sure fire way to identify tourist is when they grab the glass right when the bartender sets it down.
Also the accent gives us away as well.

They have it… but it’s not going to be on tap at most places. You’ll find Budweiser everywhere.

Went to Ireland in 2011. Coors light was popular as shite. Multiple taps in every bar for it

ETA: seems it’s the 2nd most popular beer in Ireland now

Coors Light is a popular beer in Ireland, and is the country's second largest lager brand..

frick all the people teasing you. Miller Lite is the undisputed goat.

Go try and find a Pilsner Urquell. If you’re lucky, you might be able to get some unfiltered fresh from the Chech.

I dont know why it causes so many here to freak out.

Because this is the equivalent of going to Italy and asking if anyone knows where you can find a Totinos frozen pizza

What if it’s not? What are you gonna do then? Not Geaux? Bring your own piss beer?

You had to create a thread? Could you not just wait until you get there to find out?

Obvious attention bitch

k

It doesn't haver a really distinguishable flavor profile. There's nothing inherently wrong about preferring a beer without one (and many people all over apparently like them, as there are beers brewed all over the world like that), and if you prefer beer without a distinguishable flavor profile, you probably won't like Guinness.

The Harp suggestion was probably the best. A lot of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and Miller Lite in a blind tasting.

While in Scotland I discovered a beer similar to Miller lite. Tennent, with a big red T was it's name. They probably have it in Ireland. Give it a try.

In all seriousness, if you are bold enough to travel, try some local beers. It can be daunting to find something if you don’t know anything other than the name Guinness. I was in a small bar in the English countryside this summer and saw a local and told the bartender, give me what he’s having. It was fantastic. I tried something different every place I went. If there is a choice between “pulling” a beer from a keg w/o Co2 involved, try that.

Our man here is on the travel board. Generally, people travel to have new experiences. Asking for BMC in Ireland is like asking if you can buy Franzia in Bordeaux. He’s an adult who can do what he wants, but regular posters on a travel board are going to understandably be a bit incredulous at the request.

Change? Of course not.

Enhance? Why wouldn't/couldn't it?

Do you eat MREs and drink rainwater for every meal?

Its a beer.

Just a beer. There are thousands of beers. If a beer has made your life better, God help you.

Being morose isn't a virtue. If your life isn't routinely enhanced by very, very small things, I sincerely pity you.

Its a beer. Beer than can be drank anywhere at anytime.

Your life isnt any different if you drink bud lite or Guinness. Only your wallet might be a little fatter.

My life isn’t fundamentally different if there is a cool breeze on a hot day, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy it.

With that said, I appreciate that, because of your history, you likely view “enjoying a beer” through a somewhat different filter than others might

Right. But you cannot understand why others enjoy what they enjoy.

A beer isn't a life changing event, you can drink irish beer in Topeka Kansas.

This thread is full of people saying that drinking a Guinness in Dublin is different than drinking it in Kansas. But I’m sure you know better

I wish I could put that much importance into a single beer. My life would be so much better.
