The wife is wanting to go to Fredericksburg for a few days. What else is there to do other than drinking wine.

National Museum of the Pacific War. And the Pacific Combat Zone demonstration.

The German food is mediocre. Last time we ate at Hondo’s.

Pacific war museum is a gem, kind of like a smaller WWII museum. Otherwise I hate that place.

Great place to visit for one or two days. See the Nimitz Museum and if bluebonnets are in season, do a day trip around the countryside.

Eat at Ottos, do some winery tours, do the Nimitz museum, go to Luckenbach and have a Shiner.

Perdenales state park and Enchanted Rock for hiking, Old Tunnel State Park to watch the bats fly out. There is also a nice but short hiking trail and Alamo Springs is there and has very good burgers. There are some nice back road drives.... Fm1888 is a nice dri e to Blanco. Fredericksburg itself is over run with tourists, I am sitting about 30 minutes away right now, been here 4 days and haven't set foot in Fredericksburg. My current view...

Gf and I just went over Valentine's day weekend. Actually had a great time. It's a very pretty area.

We had nice dinners at Otto's, Sage, and the Inn at Baron's Creek. Lunch at Vaudeville and Hondo's. Vaudeville is excellent.

Hit the typical wineries during the day - Grape Creek, Signor, Slate Theory. They all make pretty decent wines and the grounds are very nice to sit and relax with a tasting.

We drove down to Luckenbach one day for lunch and hung out there for a bit. Check the schedule, they're always having concerts.

Did a quick ride through the LBJ Ranch and stopped at Ad Astris winery that's right outside of the gates afterward. They had some really interesting wine and a very friendly dog.

GF booked us a trail ride through this guy LINK which wasn't too bad. Guy is a character, raises championship bucking horses. Had gotten bucked off a few days before we went and had a broken leg and still took us out, typical cowboy.

It's definitely a nice place to take your SO and just chill out for a weekend. Lots of neat airbnb's with hot tubs, etc. It'll start to be really pretty here soon with the Bluebonnets starting to bloom and all of the vines starting to come out of dormancy. We would go back.

Wine isn’t great. WW2 museum is awesome.

Ottos is overrated.

Go to Boot Ranch if you know anyone.

Im not a wino but my wino friends say the same. No grapes are grown there, it's all imported. The whole winery thing is a scam. But the suburban target demographic eats it up.

The Tempranillo grapes are from Lubbock area and other panhandle towns. I wouldn’t necessarily call that "imported".

Well, pretty much every other winery area in the world produces their grapes locally. Many of the Fredericksburg Wineries have fake vines out front to draw in the suckerz. It's tantamount to a winery in Amsterdam because the grapes only come from 6 hours away.

Pack cooler. Drive to driftwood. Go to salt lick. Get burnt ends. Profit.
