The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday dropped its travel advisory that warned Americans against boarding cruise ships in a move that could help the cruise line industry recover from billion dollars in losses incurred during the coronavirus pandemic.

My last two trips have been virtually unenforced. They make the announcement, but haven’t heard one FA tell someone to pull up mask. They are over it.
But be prepared, lord Fauci said the US should be prepared for more lockdowns soon.

Thank god, many the people I know make their living in that industry. They've had a terrible two years.

A thing the covidians don’t seem to grasp is that they aren’t getting that time back. That portion of their lives is gone forever, and for what?
Sorry for the drift (pun intended)

And the vaccine mandate is still in place.
I will book 2 cruises back to back the day that is lifted.

Well said! I did quite a bit of traveling from summer 2020 to fall 2021 and it was amazing. No crowds, cheap airfare, and cheap lodging.
Unfortunately now all of that is gone. I’m getting sticker shock realizing what I spent on a Mexico trip one year ago and planning one now. I realize inflation is key in that regard but it’s also increases in demand over 12-16 months ago too.
I’ll never forget going to Vegas in Sept 2020 and it feeling like a ghost town. Or Cozumel and Isla Mujeres in late 2020 and there being zero crowds. Those memories will last my lifetime.

Cruising out of New Orleans Sunday on NCL. They’re only booking at 50-60% capacity at give away prices. Balcony with drink package, specialty restaurants, WiFi, shore excursion discounts $1575 for two ppl

Taking Norwegian to Alaska one way from Vancouver, BC to Seward. Leave in July.

Does that include the pre-paid gratuities for not only the beverage package but also your room stewards, etc.?

That's unfortunate.
Because some people listen to the government, I've been able to get amazing prices last couple of cruises.
Oh well.

First of all, I'm happy to cruise with other vaccinated passengers. I managed to use my Caesars Diamond status to match to Carnival's players' club and get comped a "free" cruise with a balcony room. I paid a $100 per person deposit which gets refunded as onboard credit, plus I had to pay $171 per person in port fees and taxes, for a 9-day cruise from London through the fjords of Norway this summer.
But the vax mandates aren't mainly due to the cruise lines. Lots of countries and ports of call won't allow ships with unvaxxed passengers, so the cruise lines have no choice.

They are, because some of the ports of call they visit are demanding them to do so if they want to stop.
