As much as you hate it and I hate it Aranda is the last resort. He’s behind Napier. I have mentioned in other posts why that is.

No he's not.

of course it is would be a fail. "huge" is your term.
interesting negative take.

I have Riley as 1 and Aranda as 2

we agree 100%.

Where we differ is that I seem to trust Woodward much more than you do. Or, I am just a more positive person than you.

In short these are the three main reasons.

Offense: Woodward has seen how bad our offense has been this year. It’s pushing him for an offense type guy.

Recruiting: Woodward feels Napier is a better recruiter so far at this point. Likes the idea of him knowing the Louisiana area well.

Money: ultimately many people In the LSU administration feel to get Aranda they would have to pay like a top 3 coach. They don’t think he is there. Napier would be cheaper, but could be the better candidate.

And on top of it battling against USC is battle many don’t think we can win. Aranda loves the California area.

All of this does not mean Aranda is out but Napier is ahead of it were down to those 2.

I don’t know. We aren’t privy to the discussions.

If Riley is being extremely engaging and just being an outright liar, I don’t blame Woodward. If Woodward is being naive and obviously getting played, then yes it’s a failure by him

and it appears Riley is dragging this out.
based on what? Don't jump into message board crap. That's not how the real world works. If Riley is the guy you won't know until after OU's season is over. Has always been that way, Idk why people think the fact that nothing has been announced means anything.

Of course. Particularly because this all in approach is what cost us last time

From what is reported, Lincoln Riley was given an insane offer. Put a deadline on that shite if he can’t decide.

After several weeks I’m kind of assuming the “white whale” is Riley, it’s the pursuit of the white whale that consumes a person or a business. This certainly has consumed CCB, me included… what kills a “whale/white whale” a harpoon !! that would a Dave Aranda 11 man ran defense . I certainly would be OK and I’m just one person. 2-0 vs white whale… I do not believe this is just me , Jimbo Fisher was the white whale . I believe he was the smoke screen, Scott Woodard already gave Jimbo his future.

No offense to Aranda but if we missed out on some one of his limited experience....we screwed up bad.

If this is truly the attitude of admins after allegedly offering Riley $12 mil/yr, then we deserve failure.

"Cheaper, but could be better" is such a typically idiotic mindset from LSU.

Because they're insane, impatient MFers that can't look at recent history to understand that most new hires aren't announced until after the conclusion of the season.

What if Riley is already signed, sealed, and delivered?

I think this is the case.

Yes, but I cannot imagine SW let’s Riley drag this out much longer, or maybe the window has already closed, or maybe Riley has already signed on the dotted line.

No one knows anything at this point but SW and LR.

Yes. But at this level that should not happen and if DA goes to USC, he wanted to be there all along and the money didn't matter.

I believe DA will likely be the guy.

How is Aranda a bigger risk than Napier? Aranda is a proven and highly regarded defensive coach. Napier is supposed to be good on offense but I haven’t seen anything to prove that. His offense is actually very bland and underwhelming. He has no sustained work as a coordinator or shown any real expertise in anything.

Absolute huge fail by Woodward if so. He let it be known O was fired mid season presumably to get a head start. Many assume he had plans to let O go this past summer. If he fumbles that head start then he is a huge failure.

I have a different view. But apparently LSU is not as high on Aranda as the fans are. That falls on them.

Appreciate the question.

Saban did that to us in 2004. He went back and forth with the Dolphins and we had no choice but to wait. When he left as predicted (Used us as leverage for more money and control) most of the good available coaches were gone. (Including Steve Spurrier).

These are my top 2 and if I'm Scott I offer both and see who bites and then tell the other to kick rocks.

Not yes, but...

Hell yes, this would be considered an abject failure (unless some super-secret gargantuan hire swoops in, ala Alabama getting Saban in 2007).
