Ole Miss and LK dont want the release of the story out until after the Egg Bowl.

Today’s media is literally trying to be the national “a-hole” so no I don’t think so.

They have ownership interests in TD. Have to keep high numbers for high revenue.

Because Lane hasn’t even made up his mind yet. I have a bad feeling about it all but frick it! LSU will be fine

You’re talking about a guy who is a talented offensive head coach and a petulant child. There’s a very real chance he stays at OM or goes to FL or goes to TX if open or goes to bamma if it opens, and everyone outside the LSU sphere realizes that.

If they did, OM would send Lane packing immediately, putting a win in the egg bowl at risk. They would not let a Tiger coach near the team. The best players would quit and follow him to BR for better paychecks. Lose the Egg Bowl without Lane at the helm and there goes the CFP out the window. The committee is not selecting a team without a head coach. They want competitive games.

FWIW, in 2022, after flirting with Auburn, he announced to Chris Low that he was staying at OM and would be signing an extension on Tuesday of Egg Bowl week. The game was on Friday.

One of our connected guys (iowacitytigerfan) said late last week that LSU had a gag order in place.
This is so retarded.

Because the first one to break the story without hard evidence is subject to legal action for damages sustained by the various parties.

I know. Lane’s announcement is Saturday.

If it is true probably gag order till end of the season, Ole Miss knowing for sure(even though it is obvious) would suck for their fans and players for sure
Posted on 11/25/25 at 8:34 am to Allthatfades
Because there is nothing to break, yet

If I had to guess, it’s because most of the nationally respected cfb reporters would burn a very important source if they announce this before they’re given the go ahead.
My assumption is that most of them get fed info from Sexton’s agency (CAA) and report what he wants, when he wants, and never before he gives the okay- in order to stay in the know. ESPN, 247, and On3 journalists all rely on being the ‘Breaking News’ people, so I wouldn’t be surprised if while Sexton is fielding offers for Lane, he has a team at CAA that is fielding offers from these news syndicates, each one bidding to get the scoop first so they can have the ‘Breaking News’ moment

Simply put…nothing to report.
When someone says “done deal”…it isn’t really.
There are levels.
They are saying “we believe this to be over and settled”.
It doesn’t mean that there is no way out. It doesn’t mean he can’t change his mind.
I don’t think anybody has ever said it is signed sealed and delivered.
Real reporters deal in more certain things…contracts, agreements, etc.

It feels like Florida is still in play, but are also talking to other candidates as a backup option. We seem to be all in on Kiffin, or at least are doing an exceptional job at keeping a lid on other talks.

Because there is no story to report. Nothing is verifiable.

Somebody can break it, but they will lose their "insider status," and be shunned from the press pool. For some reason, nobody wants to risk that.
